Read moreThe museum is beautiful. The men who did tour, were absolutely amazing. The staff that work the front “the gift shop” were horrendous. My friend bought a toy they walked into the museum area he put it on the ground and shot it off for the first time, and it was very wobbly, she went to exchange it by checking to see if the others wobbled and they didn’t, the staff then rushed after her acting like she was doing something wrong. They then proceeded to take all the airplanes that looked like the one she wanted to exchange since they sold her a broken toy. I had been about to buy my own kids the same airplane before I heard what was happening, so I know there were more. I took pictures of her broken airplane, and the display to show they took all the airplanes that looked like hers off display. They were extremely rude to her. I went to solve the issue, they told me her son broke it, anything that hits concrete would break but the toy had never hit concrete, the boy sat it down and shot it off immediately after buying it and it was broken. The person who checked my friend out wanted to argue when all I did was ask for a manager. That person told me if she has asked before trying to get one that worked they would have given it to her but because she went to grab it she couldn’t have a working toy. They were all rude. The manager said once she walked out of the vicinity of the gift shop they would not do refunds and I said she doesn’t want a refund she just wanted a toy that wasn’t broken. She said they don’t do that even though we hadn’t left the museum but we left the “vicinity” of the gift shop it wasn’t their problem. She said my friend should have tested it before her son used it outside of gift shop, we thought it was all the same business but they acted like the gift shop was a different place then the gift shop. Our kids had a blast, but due to the rude, inappropriate behavior of the front staff I would suggest going to one of the other many other educational places near by. On our way out my friend said they acted like she stole something, where the person wearing a green jacket shrugged her shoulders, insinuating that she did steal, when in fact she was regrettably a...
Read moreA great concept for sure and when looking at the details of the place you'll see mention of going inside the vehicles. This was asked about when my family and I arrived and was confirmed by the people at the front desk. So we spend $60 for two adults and three children which seems like a fair price all things considered. Kids are super pumped to see inside the planes but first we make our way around the museum and then when we go outside we see that the entrances to all the planes and helicopters are chained off. We inquire as to why and we're told that there aren't enough volunteers to let people in the vehicles. The people outside didn't seem to care about what the people at the front counter are telling people. Big disappointment for the kids for sure, but the museum is still fun for the family. Kids really enjoyed getting close to the massive vehicles and playing both inside and outside of the museum.
The inside of the museum is totally worth checking out though. Lots of exhibits inside that the kids can play on as well as interactive areas where kids can build propellers and little space shuttles then test them. There is also a coloring area and a toddler area upstairs for the kids that are dragged along and really have no interest in aviation. For everyone else there are interesting facts about the history of aviation to be found and interesting exhibits including for some reason prop vehicles from the movie Oblivion. Cool to look at for a few minutes but there are more interesting things to see, especially if you enjoy thinking about the incredible feats of engineering that went into to designing planes and helicopters. There is also a decent little cafe where the food is exactly what you would expect museum food to taste like.
I can tell by reading the other reviews that there are usually more things to do there but so many things were shut down and off limits when I was there apparently due to staff shortages on a Sunday for some reason. Which again was very disappointing after reading about the place before going. So I have to recommend calling and asking ahead of time if they have the staff to have the full experience available to...
