I've been here numerous times. First time at their new location, a couple doors over. Larger space for sure. My co-worker and I get there. Maybe only 3 tables occupied, 3 or 4 gals working the front. They look at us with a semi blank stare, when we mention there are two of us.
Finally we are told to pick anywhere, we find a table and sit down. Menus are dispensed and drinks are ordered.
First time around we needed a couple minutes, then when we were ready it took us forever to get someone to take our order.
Do not try to order lunch items on the weekend. It does not specify that on the menu at all. You pay dinner price all weekend.
We ordered our food, which took some time. Salad came with a small to-go cup of salad dressing placed on top of the salad.
Sushi rolls were okay, rice was a bit overdone and thickly layered on the nori. I got full fast. The tempura inside the sushi roll wasn't crispy at all, it went soggy. The batter was a bit on the thicker side.
The tempura appetizers were small and limited. Carrot, squash/potato, acorn squash, singular piece of broccoli, zucchini, and shrimp. The plates were a bit large, making the portions look quite small. The veggie tempura provided a couple extra pieces of broccoli, but almost the same.
Coco loco roll is alright, big mouthful. Toasted coconut would have made the dish better, different texture and taste. Dragon roll was just meh.
It was odd that they only provide you one receipt with the itemization, then only one copy to sign. Always usually a merchant copy and customer copy.
Still $80 for two people, sushi/ Japanese food just seems to get more...
Read moreArrived 11:25AM. Ordered $48 food for two lunches to go. (Expensive, huh?) Told 15-20 minutes. Only two orders ahead of us. Waited, waited, waited. Others came in, ordered, got food and left. After 40 minutes, was told that the food that had been sitting behind the register was mine, but there is still something in the kitchen. Rather than go get the food, she takes another customer's order, then runs to kitchen, but comes back with extra Wasabi for the other customer....huh? Then she rings out another customer, seats a new customer, and finally runs to kitchen, and returns empty-handed. I quietly told her that I had been waiting 45 minutes, and I'm done, please give me a refund, and I'll leave, no hard feelings. No harsh words, I was simply tired of being her absolute last priority. Manager had to be telephoned to do return. After waiting 50 minutes for our lunch, and now the time to process the refund, he refunded me all but the Sprite I had taken to the car nearly an hour earlier. What a way to kick a customer in the gut. That was THE MOST PETTY THING TO DO. I have bragged about this place to so many people, but if this is their new business model, as it appears from countless other reviews, I'm no longer a fan. I don't want to "hope" I'll get my food when I order.
Note to management: Remember that $3 Sprite when your tables are empty, and wonder where it...
Read moreIchiban Sushi what a joke. Once again my guests and I were extremely disappointed with the service and food. We tried various Sushi as well as Sashimi and other items from the menu. We had chicken Teriyaki, Tempura and beef Teriyaki . The Sushi was strange and had some weird spicy sauce that was on the Sushi itself. The rice in the Sushi was flavourless and that’s because the rice was not the proper rice for Sushi. The only thing I could taste was the icky sauce that was used. No wasabi mustard was given and no ginger. The Teriyaki was a bit overcooked and the Teriyaki was drenched in bottled Teriyaki sauce which was overkill. The Tempura was doughy and the vegetables were raw. Again I discovered that this restaurant is not Japanese it’s Mexican and perhaps the chef should stick to making tacos instead of butchering Japanese dishes that he doesn’t know how to make. Absolutely disgraceful and I would advise skipping this restaurant. Customer service was friendly but service is slow. Another thing I need to mention is that the majority of the glowing reviews are written by Hispanic’s mainly Mexicans who unfortunately don’t know what authentic Japanese food is. I’m part Japanese and have eaten Japanese food my entire life. The food here just isn’t good and there’s a strange stench ( odour ) like in a...
