J & M's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in California

The French toast was pretty good. Most items are comfort food quality, you get exactly what you want with no surprises. The food, place and service is not impressive yet I would probably return as a to go order if I was craving a nice hearty homey breakfast. We were greeted warmly at the beginning and our order was taken immediately. However we got our food in spurts so for example my daughter got her food when everyone else was half ways. She also forgot my daughter's food and I had to remind her. We also never got refills on coffee (so sad) nor on the other beverages. We were a party of 5 people and the restaurant was not busy. The servers were doing side work and talking amongst themselves. I also never got any condiments so I had to get up and serve myself from another table. They were nice and smiled...

My first time here and I didnt know they had 2 ways to enter. Walked in the bar side and we got greeted and sat right away. We sat in an area where the bar and tables are in the same room. To me its no big deal but to others they might not like it. Anyways, i ordered the chicken fried steak with country potatoes and the wife, a meat lovers omelette. She liked her plate and chowed it all down. My plate had 2 versions, big or small and without knowing I ordered the big one and it was a decent size. Eggs and potatoes had to come on a separate plate. I didnt care for the chicken fried steak. My first impression walking in was that this place is definitely a mom and pop shop. It seems so much more once you actually open the doors and realize how large the entire restaurant is. They have a full size bar alongside the restaurant. Everyone was friendly, including the customers. They have a very warm and homeful feeling like you could ask for an extra piece of bacon sitting at your own dinner table. I had the suggested Chili Verde Omelette with biscuits and gravy as my side. It was unexpected and I know everyone makes dishes different but this was a very good solid flavorful Chili Verde. Not spicy and still has all of the flavors you're looking for in a dish like this I would recommend coming and trying...
