First time back in several years. Because I had moved away. Today was delightful! 😊 the food was excellant, cooked just ✅ right! And ❤ the service. EVERYONE is so sweet and caring!! The place has great ambiance and character. Very clean, decent prices for the portions they serve. Well worth the trip! Really have to compliment Kay's Orcutt Country Kitchen on the staff here. I love good food but more than that I LOVE NICE PEOPLE!!! ❤
Make sure you are hungry when you come here because the portions are huge. We brought home at least 50% of the food and will definitely enjoy it later. My grandchildren loved the kids menu activities, so did us big folks! Lol 😆
The pancakes are delish! Especially the Chocolate Chip!!
I had the "Beast" Breakfast Special. It was so good 👍!
The hash browns were cooked just right. I really dislike hash browns that are not cooked all the way. So 5 stars on these!
YOU WON'T FIND NICER FOLKS ANYWHERE!!!
THANK YOU FOR GREAT SERVICE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!!!!
Yesterday we went back for breakfast. 5/30/22 service was good as always but the food was not unfortunately.
One person orders the Tri Tip breakfast, but the tri tip was way over cooked, it was like pot roast. It fell apart at the touch of the fork as you can see in the pictures. It was definitely not the Tri Tip taste or texture. So it was not eaten but left to be thrown away. I tasted it and yuk! I had a pancake and it was dry, I had a few bites but left the rest. My son had Chicken n waffles and he ate his up so it was good. My grandson who's 14 had Strawberry waffles and he ate his up.
For what it cost to eat here and the disappointing Tri Tip breakfast... we will not return. No one ever asked how we liked the food so we didn't tell them but I belive it's best to make a review. They were swamped but that's not an excuse for a drop in standards because they thrive on business...
Read moreFellow Google reviewers, my cousin lives in Orcutt, and drove up from Los Angeles. However, as someone that has lived in Newport Beach (OC) Orange (OC) and San Francisco (the actual city, folks, not the bay) I have yet to experience actual awful D-I-S-C-R-I-M-I-N-A-T-I-O-N! I could not believe my ears or eyes. This place was open, HAD an obvious sign outside, and a large party were eating behind the hostess check-in station. I went up and said hi, and the very young hostess said "OH, the bar is next doors." I get it, she's young, she lacks proper etiquette and mannerisms that makes you question if she might be a relative because how do you still have that job? To add my cherry on top, there was woman that was wearing a p-u-s-h-u-p and seemingly reminded me of Ashlee Simpson (you know, the 2000's era) that asked the young hostess "what does SHE (ME) want" and the youngling said a table. DING! Of course, I came up to ask for a table to BUY food, you know? DINE-IN just like the large party was behind your station. The Ashlee Simpson wannabe literally PAUSED made a face, actually multiple expressive faces, as I was standing there. I remained calm, but asked her: Are you sure it's fine? Are you guy's closed? Uh no, no it's okay you can sit there. Didn't provide us menus, and well - we obviously left. I don't want to pull the card of who's better than who, but being in the service industry or any customer service role, OR ACTUALLY sometimes customers are P-R-I-C-K-S but did BOTH of ya'll get raised by non-humans? It isn't hard to be nice to a client that WAS ALSO BEING NICE. At the end of the day, I guess, what goes around comes around, and I would hate to live your...
Read moreI wasn't as impressed with this place as other raters seemed to be. Personally, I thought it was merely a step above an ordinary diner. I had the corned beef hash which was optimistically stated to be "some of the best you've ever had" on the menu. Well, it wasn't. It was better than canned, but no where near the far better hash I've had at various chain restaurants (such as Black Bear diner). The menu said it was served crispy but mine was not crispy at all. Possibly they rushed my order because they initially brought the wrong order. The corned beef was a homogeneous paste with small diced potato, not whole flakes of meat and potato chunks like real corned beef hash. The eggs were the same strangely small, flat, watery, tasteless eggs found at any diner. They charged us for the wrong order as well but perhaps they purposefully charged the cheaper order as an apology. I do appreciate that they corrected the order quickly, apologized and didn't charge for a side upgrade. The coffee was slightly better than ordinary diner coffee, but only just. Some people raved about the coffee, so I don't get it. Maybe the coffee varies according to who makes it?
The service was very good, there was no wait and we had our pick of tables (we were there on a weekday).
My boyfriend's omelet was quite good and came with tasty potatoes.
Although I don't understand the hype, I will gladly go again because it is after all a good diner. Perhaps I will be wowed next time. For us, it's a choice between Holiday Inn breakfast (gag) and this place. This place is decidedly better at approximately the same cost, so we will...
