Have you ever heard the term Lip stick on a pig? Thats what this place is, it looks good when you enter but ultimately its just a facade....I don't like giving bad reveiws but they earned this one. First off, the ice cream is fine, but once again I've been reminded by their staff as to why I do NOT recommend coming here. I visited on a Saturday night @ 9:20pm, on the door it says they close at 10. There was a large group of about 10 already served and enjoying their desserts that were served to them in plastic containers. I ordered one of their pre-set sundae menu items and was told " sorry to close to closing" and wouldn't allow me to order it..... The only reason I could see you not wanting to serve me a sundae is if it was served in a glass dish and had walked in at 5 till closing. Not the case here. Unfortunately, the current owner who purchased this place has left it as - they have the same sun bleached faded pictures of once tasty treats that were served decades ago along with the decor and interior. They have no intentions of customer retention, they purposely under staff and cut corners everywhere they can. Perhaps the better business plan would have been, keep the customer service and change the décor. Just as a recommendation, Knudsens family creamery is across the blvd. They actually make their own ice cream, serve it in a dish and the staff won't cut you off 40minutes...
Read moreRude treatment, no communication, loosing customers:
The sign for business hours is next to the door this night it said closes at 10:00pm. So we said great we have time. It was 8:35pm Another group of five walked in after us. We were sitting eating our ice cream. Then some of the lights were turned off. Then all the lights went off. Long story short. The manager/owner stood there holding her personnel items. Looking Angry. She told the other group that she had mentioned that closing was at 9:00pm. The group all said what? No you did not say anything about closing at nine
I said your sign says closing at 10:00pm. Everyone was saying how rude of just leaving us in the dark and not in any way announcing that she was about to close. No excuse just poor communication and treatment. If she would have said we close in five or …. We gladly would’ve left. But the sign does say 10:00pm. Odd treatment and she has no customer service skills, at all. She expected everyone to just read her body language. You have to treat customers with some respect This lady does not care if she...
Read moreLoard's- local Bay Area chain ice cream. Have tried a handful of the flavors... The ice cream is pretty good, the founders of Loard's set out to make an old-fashioned ice cream and I think they do so pretty well. Outside of this factor though, the portions were small and price high. There were no samples and all the ice cream bins were closed shut with a big sign stating so. I am not much of a sample guy to begin with but it does feel particularly strange for a dessert ship to be that authoritarian about the ice cream- even the pop of the colors and look of the ice cream's quality removed from such a bright store remove from the fun experience of visiting. The 1950s enjoyment of the plating was unavailable as well since the sundae was served in a plastic cup and I was asked if I would prefer it to go since it was in there as opposed to their glass- that is, after it was already prepared lol. The seating is paint chipped and the interior looks like it needs a renovation to keep up the...
