Scenario: Its Taco Tuesday and you just moved to a new town. Local Mexican restaurant is hosting a Taco Tuesday special, the pictures actually looked pretty good on the local FB group page. Its getting kind of late so you think i better call and see what time they close because its already 7pm. So i make the call, " Hello i am on Google and it says you close at 8pm is that accurate. " Person on the phone replies,"Actually we just stop seating people at 8." My interpretation; just get your butt down here and we will take care of you..... I had people visiting so i tell everyone. We gotta move! So we load up 7-Adults 1-kid and 1- 3month old baby. 2-carloads deep .....and we get there 7:35pm. We are seated 7:40pm They take our drink order bring chips and salsa ......and we sit, and wait. I get my beer and i ask the person who brought it,"So how does this Taco Tuesday thing work?" He says,"You have to wait for your Server." Server shows up 7:55pm "Can i take your order?" I say yes, "We all want the Taco Tuesday Special." The Server then says "Oh, sorry, we stop serving that at 7:30pm." I said,"Thats pretty ridiculous. Why would someone stop serving their special of the day 30min. before you stop seating people? Can i please talk to the manager?" Manager re-enforced what the server was saying. I informed him that was the sole reason for us coming. He refused to accommodate, so i refused to spend my money there. I got up and said i will pay for what we have here and we will be leaving. He said "O.k." He saw that we had a large group with small children so he said just pay for your beer. Was that really supposed to give me some sort of warm fuzzy? I paid for my beer and left, Never to return again. What Mexican restaurant in ALL of Southern California stops serving Tacos on Tuesday at 7:30pm? How does that even make sense that, Whatever the hell your DAILY SPECIAL is, you stop serving THAT 30min. before you "stop seating people"? Why if someone calls and asks what time you close can you not disclose that you stop serving your special 30min. prior to close? You have a party of 7-Adults and 1-kid and a baby. How do you NOT accommodate them? Especially when they called you 1st? This place will never see my hard erned $$$$, not that they obviously care, all the more reason. Well, on to the next...
Read moreMy family and I have been going to Mariscos for years with no complaints... until now. We've noticed the quality of the food has gone down considerably. The favorite burrito that I typically order is now nothing more than some bland meat rolled up in a tortilla and served with warm rice and old refried beans. This hearty dish was previously stuffed with savory shredded beef, cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, lettuce and tomato in a homemade tortilla served with fresh Spanish rice and choice of beans piping hot. Another favorite, classic chimichanga, was off the charts. A crispy deep-fried burrito with so much goodness stuffed inside really set this dish apart. On our last visit we found a cold stale tortilla with some meat buried with lettuce. The most troubling thing is that it wasn't deep-fried. Instead it was grilled and only on one side. I'm thinking the lettuce is there to mask what is lacking. Besides the poor quality of the food, we've also noticed the service has changed dramatically. Again, on our last visit we had to stand waiting over 5min to be seated at one of at least 6 empty tables in the main dining room. The troubling part is that we noticed the servers were bustling about so we asked if we could have the regular table we've had before. "No. You'll need to wait to be seated." was the gruff reply from a less-than-pleasant woman. Her inexperience was clearly evident; wrong drinks, no idea what special items were available for the evening, hurried to move on, too busy to offer fresh drinks, and more. I understand that every restaurant has an off day. Sadly, this isn't the first, second, or third time we've had a bad experience... it will surely...
Read moreAs of 3/12/23 Boy, things have changed here! Only 1 other couple here. This place use to be packed with people standing outside waiting to get in at lunch time, but not any more..... why? The waiter. He was sulky, & stingy. What other mexican restaurant gives 6 people only 2 baskets of chips & 2 salsas? and when we asked for refills, he says "whose tab shall i charge the extra $ for the salsa & chips"? What! What mexican restaurant charges for chips & salsa? If i showed up alone to eat, i would get my own chips & salsa. Right? Talk about being a kill joy. Although our food came out quickly, and it was good! The waiter wrecked it for us. No one wants to come here again. Im so disappointed! I love coming here and have been trying for a year to get my friends to come. It should have been a success story, but it was a miserable failure instead.
