I saw a 4.4 rating and figured I had to definitely check it out!!! Womp, one of the worst decisions in my life. Customer service sucked, hope this helps

Had asked the waitress to take back our sushi pieces to get sauced up and she just gave me the sauces to do it myself..excuse me but I'm not a sushi chef to know which sauce goes where. They also dropped a hint to our table, that if we couldn't finish what we had out we'd have to pay extra, and that's why we were told some of the items we ordered didn't come out. That's so Bogus! You chose what to hold out on us till the way end, but what if someone wanted to eat something specific first?!

Didn't have items on the all you can eat menu that every other sushi restaurant in the Santa Clarita Valley offers, but they didn't care to tell us until we asked at the end (like I said they held back a few roles and pieces), we would have paid for those damn roles not on the menu dudes. *oh yeah they brought us out a role that they either "made on accident" or made for someone that didn't want it anymore, and shoved it down our faces but couldn't have brought us what we ordered before those people came in. (You could have offered it for us to go, but there was a lot more you could have done overall to gotten us to enjoy and want to come back :( .

Ghost town on a Saturday night at 7:30pm, especially with those tacky duck taped cushioned seats and mugginess. No way you should have lacked the greatest customer service you had to offer when nobody is there. One of those places you don't want to leave a tip at, good thing I'm a chill dude because your crappy vibes killed everybody's mood.

Gave them an extra star since my toddler got to eat under our 3 all...

We visited Matsu on our long drive up to SF for lunch. Given the 4.5 stars, I had thought we had discovered a local gem given the pics and the size of the joint. Unfortunately, it was a pretty big disappointment and would've been 2 stars had it not been for the cheaper prices (although not too cheap) and the friendly server.

I won't comment on the entire lineup of sushis we ordered but overall, it sums up to (1) trying to garnish sushi unnecessarily and without purpose and (2) no passion in the way the ingredients were prepared.

Depending on the type of fish you order, the sushi comes soggy in lime juice or some other weird mixture of soy sauce. Some have mayo(?) and chili paste on it? What is up with that? And jalapenos on top of sushi? Are you kidding me? Perhaps the saving grace was the eel but that came out cold... And what were those scallops been garnished with? Even worse,

Now let's talk about the ingredients preparation. Cold eels, rubbery tamago, tough udon noodles, uncooked tempura... I can go on and on. At least the fish seemed to be on the fresher side but definitely not something that can salvage the masquerade of sauces and lack of passion and care in preparation. Oh, ikura wasn't so fresh and was a bit watery.

I have no idea where this 4.5 star reviews are coming from. Won't be...

We eat here once a week. The service can be very slow but it's sort a small town (everything’s slow) and its way tastier than what you would expect. The sushi chefs are top notch, no need to drive into valencia. The head sushi chef worked at a very high end sushi bar and he brings that experience to this sushi bar at a fair price. Ask eddy if he has anything special today... they have higher end filets but you have to ask. The fish is always fresh and if your not used to actually having fresh sushi you might not like it. Aka this is what fresh fish taste like. Most places serve fish that has been frozen for some time and has less flavor and is covered up with sauce or is covered in something fried. Also Lina is the best waitress I've ever. Shes...

Surprisingly, the best baked salmon roll I’ve had in a long time! Did not expect that.

Matsu Sushi is our go-to sushi spot in Castaic. The sushi is always very fresh, and they offer fresh wasabi when asked. The staff is always friendly and very efficient. Their rolls were well made and neat & The atmosphere was warm and inviting. They have plenty of parking and share the lot with Tesla charging stations. I would definitely return, and I would recommend ordering the chef special as pictured called "The Tower," which is beautifully presented and includes premium cuts like toro and even blue crab wrapped in salmon. Bottom line, if you are in the mood for Japanese food that tastes great and won't break the bank, Matsu Sush is a must!
