Takuma Ramen & Sushi — Restaurant in Santa Clarita

Admittedly, my experience is a bit unusual, because I came in for lunch at 2:30. I was the only one in the restaurant at that time, but I assume that was just because of it being right between lunch and dinner.

Being the only one has it's perks though. Super fast service, very nice and responsive staff, and ultra fresh food.

The menu is quite extensive. I came here for the sushi which was excellent, but I also got a tempura bento box since it was before 3:00. I got to try a wide selection of items that way and they were all great. The rolls, both California roll from the bento box and the dragon roll that I ordered separately, were packed full of filling. Definitely generous portions.

If I'm being picky and needed to mention one thing to improve on it would be that the slices of sushi roll were perhaps too thick. The rolls are such a large diameter from the generous amount of filling that it is difficult to eat one piece in one bite. I'm an above average size male, so if they are large to me then I can't imagine someone small being able to easily consume these. Fantastic problem to have though. A well...

I've ate at a lot of ramen places around SoCal, like Shinsengumi and Daikokuya down in Little Tokyo, so I may have been spoiled by them regarding flavor and service, but this is probably the worst tasting ramen I've had by far. The tonkatsu ramen is very bland, and the california rolls were okay but not gonna blow you away. I understand that this business is fairly new, and pitfalls are expected, but I can't help but be a little upset that I spent money for a middling experience. The location and interior is nice and comfy though, and the staff are nice at least. I do like that the owner is at least reading reviews and acknowledging the shortcomings, but I can only hope next time I come the food will be better tasting. This cozy restaurant is definitely one of the next spots you'll wanna hit when it comes to quality food, service, and amazing staff ! The price you pay is definitely worth every penny, as you're served a very generous portion of food that can definitely make you want seconds but not able to fit anymore more in !
