Memo's Bagel Café — Restaurant in California

Honestly, I’ve been looking for a good San Diego bagel since 2015 and I have finally found my place. Living in New York really spoiled me and unfortunately I am addicted to bagels. I have been thoroughly disappointed in my search for bagels until I stumbled upon Memo’s Cafe. Immediately upon entering, the aroma of a fresh baked bagel hits your nose. The staff is extremely friendly but I don’t care. I just want a good bagel. I started off with a classic bagel and cream cheese. I always start with the basics to gauge my bagel. The Bagel was toasted and savory plain cream cheese was smeared on. I didn’t have high expectations since all my previous San Diego bagel experiences have been trash. But once I took a bite, that was it. I was back in New York. Perfect balance of crunch and chewy. Just the right dose of cream cheese hit my veins. I was in heaven. I devoured the bagel. I politely thanked them and left. Now after I was off the cream cheese high, I decided to try Memos again a week later, to ensure it wasn’t a fluke. My second visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Memo herself. She was very kind and knew her bagels. This time I had to go with the everything bagel. A real test. Most places can make the everything too salty. There is an art to the everything bagel. It needs to taste just like everything and nothing all at once. I ordered online and the prices are WRONG. Now I know why you can't pay online because when you go it to pick it up they charge you a higher price. Also what the online menu says comes on a sandwich is different from what actually comes on the sandwich. For instance I ordered the Turkey Melt (Memo's Melt) and online it says it comes with avocado but when I picked it up and ate it at work there was no avocado. The paper menu in my bag confirmed I paid more and had less toppings. Also when I brought to her attention the price is different she said sorry those are old prices and never even offered to honor those prices and didn't have the courtesy to tell me the Turkey melt no longer comes with avocado. After the gym, I was looking a place to a quick breakfast. Much to my surprise I found this right next to my gym.

They have fresh made bagels and fresh pressed juice available. I’m sure there’s more other things on the menu just sandwiches, salads, and more. However, this caught my eye for something quick and fresh. I also really love their different cream cheeses. I can’t wait to come back again.

Don’t forget that they have a special; one juice for $6.50, or three for $15

My recommendation is getting a green juice, and a fresh bagel with cream cheese.
