We went on a Sunday around 5:45 and sat at the bar. The place was clean and light inside, and the atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. There is a huge stone fireplace that I would love to sit near in the winter! The service was prompt and friendly, and we all started with a drink. Beer for my husband and house specialty cocktails for me and my son. All 3 were made well and were very tasty. The menu is varied but not so large that it was overwhelming. Prices were reasonable. My husband and son split the family meal #1 and I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak with garlic fries. The family meal #1 says it feeds 4-5 people. I would say that is accurate unless you have large eaters. It came with a lb of either brisket or tri tip (or half and half), 2 half chickens, 2 pint size sides and a loaf of garlic bread. They chose half brisket and half tri tip which they enjoyed, however they highly recommend the brisket (super tender and delicious). The chicken was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. For sides, they went with garlic fries and tri tip chili and said both were outstanding. The garlic bread got a "meh" with both stating it didn't have enough garlic flavor. The Philly Cheesesteak was not your typical cheesesteak, so if you're looking for authentic this isn't for you. But it was a delicious take on it with plenty of their tender beef, and onions and peppers that still had some crispness to them. And oh, the garlic fries! Not soggy or greasy, a generous serving of perfectly crisp thin fries with just the perfect amount of fresh garlic. Great on their own, or try dipping them in the house bbq sauce. Yum.
It's for sure worth a visit, especially if you like good bbq and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've lived here 20 years and passed by this place several times so we decided to stop in and eat after the Orangevale Christmas Tree Lighting. We ordered calamari to start off with. I ordered the chili and salad. My friend ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. We both had tea with lemon. The calamari was like $8.95 and the size of a French fry looked like a stick shape and there were only 10. I asked the waitress if the chili was good and she said it was very good. I thought it said made with tri tip and there was absolutely no meat in it not one piece of meat and it had way too much paprika or chili powder in it. My friend took a taste and said maybe it tasted acidic because of the chunks of tomatoes in it. It had no salt in it so I added some and asked for a side of sour creme and shredded cheese to try and make it tolerable. My friends bacon cheese burger was tasteless and bland with no salt and fries were frozen store bought. It was very hard to get the waitress attention she walked by several times without making eye contact or checking on us. It looked like there were kids cooking. My salad was drenched in ranch dressing and tasted awful. My friend said it looked like I didn't like my meal and my friend didn't care for the meal. Dinner was over $40 and we won't be going back. The food was terrible, the portion sizes were small and the price to eat here is high and not worth it. I left over half of my meal and the waitress didn't even ask if we...

We got the Cajun pasta- skimpy sauce that lacked flavor, richness. Indicated it used cream but there wasn't much creaminess. I asked to substitute the shrimp instead of the chicken. Below was a shrimp dish, scampi style that was same exact price as the chicken dish. included about 7 shrimp of decent size and they were cooked well. Waitress did not indicate an additional charge, which was $2.50.
Waitress was nice but didn't check on us besides once.
Husband got jambalaya pasta and it was almost identical sauce wise to the Cajun pasta, just a few different ingredients. Skimpy/almost non existent sauce. which was disappointing. Veggie amounts lacking. pasta portion generous though.
bowl of the tri tip chili... looked like almost no tri tip in it. bowl was a bit small. lacking flavor. have had better canned chilis. had nice cheese and chives on top though.
Part of what was upsetting was all dishes were higher in price vs the menu price. I dont know if they charge a hidden percent fee which doesn't get mentioned on the bill or shown as a fee. just every dish was slightly higher price and an uneven number. I did not see anything indicating this. Very sneaky. Up to almost a dollar extra on one entree. If food prices increase, you need to display or indicate the updated prices. Nothing mentioned on website either.
This is a generic dining place, I would skip it....
