Perko's Café — Restaurant in California

Normally I love Perkos. Have been going there my whole life. Haven't really had a negative experience. I usually get the ultimate French dip. It's always thinly sliced sirloin and always delicious. Today I called in an order of that sandwich and fries to go. Whoever answered the phone couldn't take my order and had to get a server.. weird but ok, also took some time for second person to get on the phone. Anyway, I get home, 20 minutes away and open my food and realize the meat doesn't look like it's usually slices.. I open the sandwich, taste the meat, it's ground beef. It was kinda burnt/crispy and did not taste good. I called Perkos to let them know and was told it was steak cut up. No ma'am. I told them I always get this Sandwich and this has never been the meat on it. She kind of argued with me for a bit, but did offer to make something else. They served us food from someone else's table. My grandma's hashbrowns were spicy?? They tasted like green hot sauce and had so much pepper on it that I could see it from across the table. A few of us tasted it to see and it was weird... And when we asked for them to be replaced the waitress came back from the kitchen with new hashbrowns, she admitted that they gave her something off of someone else's table!! Gross, they refried hashbrowns from someone else's plate, they must have been because they had the weird taste but were also still hot!! I don't trust this place now, we've been coming here for over 15 years. I can't believe they reserved AND recooked food! This happened today 6/5/2022 at 12:45pm during rush hour. So. Nasty. My husband and brothers were extremely satisfied with the food we ordered and picked up. We had 20 to go boxes with a total of 10 meals! The food was delicious as the service provided while we waited for our food was excellent! The restaurant atmosphere was amazingly gracious and family friendly! This cafe is a hidden gem in plain sight! I’ve lived here for a year and this was the first time I visited. Not knowing what Jackson had to offer we stayed away from eating out at restaurants, since there’s so many of us. We’re so grateful to the chef and staff for making our experience so delightful! We’re Islanders with big appetites. This cafe, is a 10/10 for large hungry families and the prices are worth the value without breaking the bank!
