WARNING! Skip the Snack Shack and Go straight to Phil's Fish Market. Unless you have 2 hours to kill.
**Management- Please reconsider your staffing needs here.
I'm a 15+ year loyal customer of the original Phil's Fish Market. This experience frankly seems like it is under different management, or clearly not a business priority.
Poor customer service from cashier, slooooow wait time. We were advised it would be a 30 min wait. Actual wait time= 85 minutes.
Menu is limited as expected- sandwiches, 3 fried fish sandwich options, breakfast burritos, and soups (no bread bowl). No fries or a la cart fried items. It's a miss not to have chowder in a bread bowl imo.
After waiting 35 min, the cashier advised that that my order was coming up soon. Great! I stepped aside to wait near the pickup area, and she added "Not soon enough for you that you need to be standing here".
The comment was rude- and wouldn't have bothered me normally but all of these issues were mounting along with hangry-ness.
Tick tock tick tock...... Another half hour of my life passed until my order number was called. Yay! Finally- I approached the counter with my ticket- and the staff was disorganized and confused. They asked me what my name was? and couldn't find my ticket even though they had called for me. It was painfully watching all 3 of the confused employees assembling my simple order (1 soup, toast, and 2 sandwiches that had NO modifications).
On top of it- I didn't get an apology for the wait time.
By now, my family members were hangry and retreated to the car, wanting to leave ASAP. Even though we were super hungry, the food was fine but the experience killed the vibe.
I will be forever a fan of Phil's Fish Market, but I will never...
Read moreMy first time at Phil's snack shack I ask "what would recommend to someone coming here for the 1st time?". "our fried calamari sandwich" she replies. What seems like forever later it finally shows up. It has no taste of calamari, it tasted of mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and bread😔
My second trip I ordered a pint of clam chowder to take home later and a chili dog to wolf down during my meager time for lunch.
My delivery comes out without a chilidog but an albacore melt🤔.
When I told the young lady who brought order outside to me that, no I did not order an albacore melt, I ordered a chili dog. She proceeded inside to talk to the kitchen and then to the cashier to determine where the breakdown happened.
Once again this is a situation that has taken over 20 minutes now. When the cashier is apprised of the situation that she misheard the customer, she, instead of being accountable for this situation and correcting it says nobody ordered a chili dog from me, in front of me. I raise my hand and said I did, I ordered a chili dog. She had the nerve to look me in the face and said no you didn't. I had to reply that on no place on the planet does albacore melt sound like chili dog and I know what I ordered.
I'm a partner in a local food truck and customer service is key. I have no patience for bad customer...
Read moreSwung by here to break up a 4 hour drive between SLO and SF, this was a perfect halfway spot to stop and get a bite to eat and enjoy the scenery and park across the street. Friendly staff greeted us when we walked in. The menu has plenty of options, so we ordered a few items. We ordered a calamari sandwich, jalapeno burger, fries, and fried zucchini. The outdoor seating area next to the lagoon is great, really pretty and calming to relax at after being on the road for 2 hours. Dog friendly too, so that was a big plus. The food came out pretty quickly. Good size on all of the food, more than enough to eat for the two of us and our toddler. My calamari sandwich was delicious, perfectly fried and not greasy. The sourdough bread was a really nice choice to balance out all of calamari, tartar sauce and veggies. My wife's burger was loaded up with all of the fixing and it was a nice and juicy patty. It was quite good with the heat from the jalapenos. Crinkle cut fries were a fun surprise, cooked perfectly and not greasy. The fried zucchini were awesome, larger than anticipated and really juicy. Overall a great pitstop on a long drive, though I would certainly go out of my way a bit to...
