Rigatoni's Restaurant - Castro Valley — Restaurant in California

I am a traveler and I love trying new restaurants near by. I always write a review about them. I've seen this restaurant in a commercial, and I really wanted to try this place but I never could find one. When I flew in to California I happened to visit my brother who lives in Castro Valley. I was thrilled when I saw rigatonis. I had lunch with my brother. Our waiter didn't sound Italian at all and he was very impatient. I ordered the chicken marsala with garlic bread. I was very disappointed with the portions. I left home hungry so we had to go to olive garden and I don't really like olive garden but at least they had bigger portions. I won't be going to the Castro Valley...

Tried for the first time. Husband got a cheeseburger, I asked for pasta with bolognese sauce. This is NOT bolognese. It's a watery beige mess with red bellpepper and a whif of some kind of sausage? Was that sausage? Still nothing in common with bolognese. An experience I don't feel the need to repeat. I'll post a photo...

Oh, and when they refreshed the bread baskets, the new bread was cooler than room temp. So it's new to the basket, but not fresh baked.

We got water, no sides, dishes were $13-16.

They have an outdoor eating area. They'll bring orders to you, but got gotta get your own drinks, cutlery, bread,...

This restaurant is exceptional! The food is consistently excellent every time we visit. The father-and-son cooking duo is incredibly talented, and their passion for what they do truly shines through. The staff is always polite and quick to meet any needs, going above and beyond to accommodate even our strict requests for food modifications.

This place holds a special meaning for our family—my dad worked here 25+ years ago, and it’s amazing that we still love coming back, not just for the nostalgia but because they know how to hire the right people. The quality and hospitality have stood the test of time....
