Salsal Kabob & Gyro Grill — Restaurant in California

I need to give this establishment 0 stars. My wife went into order a gyro and 2 rice plates. When she came home the chicken smelled funny and it was over cooked. So she called in to let them know. Sal apparently is very sensitive about customers criticizing his chicken and took offense. Was very rude to my wife and told her “come get your free food” that’s why your calling and hung up. My wife called again to let him know that it’s not about the money just letting you know that your food was not up to par. He told her off and hung up again. I called in to check him for being rude and he did the same thing said go call the health department. Not sure if he was having a bad day or this dude has some serious problems. Very surprised he is even in business for this type of service. Restaurant looks like it wasn’t cleaned for months. Grill looks all black and we still go out to support small businesses to keep them afloat. Absolutely disgusted by the way he handled himself. These guys are awesome, best customer service ever, my bank card has declined for some reason.

I had no other option to pay at the moment, but the owner handled the situation like a true gentleman. Not only he didn’t charge us, but we also walked away with extra food.

I have no words to express how great the service is here, not because they let us go with extra food, but because of how humble, and professionally they took care of the situation.

Edited after six months: This time, I’m driving for Uber at San Francisco, I got a ride requested got to the pick up location, two happy young guys got in to my car with Pizza in their hands. After a minute driving down the road somehow we ended up talking about “Gyero” I told him the whole story what happened with us at this place. He said hold on did you leave a google review, right? I said, yes!

He is like.... That’s our restaurant! I remembered the whole story. We laughed and shacked hands. again he didn’t want to leave my car until I get a piece of pizza.

This place never disappoints!! I've been going here for years. The food is always delicious. They can get busy so if you call and get a busy signal, keep calling until you get through. It's an order-at-the-counter, take a seat where you want type place so if you're looking for a traditional sit-down restaurant, this place isn't it. Don't let that deny you their amazing food though!! Some of my favorite items are the chicken salad (they do not skimp on the meat!) and the Philly cheese steak. Their shawarma, gyros, and plates are equally amazing though so you can't really go wrong. Whatever they use to marinate their meats is a recipe sent straight from the heavens. Seriously so tasty!! One tip: if you like really spicy, make sure you emphasize that. My husband ordered his food 'spicy' and could barely taste any spiciness at all. Their bathroom (if they even have one) is not really accessible to customers. It's been awhile since we've asked due to COVID but I vaguely recall having to go around to the outside back of...
