Since I was busy with errands, I requested my husband to pick up dinner from Fish and Things Poke Bar. He was not drawn in trying out Poke.
Anyways, he’s the sweetest person so he ended up going to the restaurant and ordered heat wave. He was craving for pho so he went to he’s favorite pho restaurant.
When he brought the food home, I immediately started digging in. Since I’m an awesome wife, I was kind enough to ask him to try my food. After he took the first bite, he said the food was great. Then I could see him digging the second and third time from my small bowl. He sat across watching me eat my poke bowl instead of the pho. After a while, I did have to ask him do you want to eat my food. He said, if there’s any leftover then I’ll eat. LOL.
Around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon, my husband said the restaurant was empty. You can build your own bowl or order from the menu which I did. Next time I’ll build my bowl. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. The heatwave had enough spice and crunchiness. It was a perfect bowl but I wish they gave less rice.
This restaurant is located in the Target complex and there is plenty of parking.
In short, I’ll say the Poke place has found two...
Read moreWe've eaten there many times. The food is awesome. Zero complaints there. However, last time we went there, we ordered ahead via the web (over $75), got our food and went home. We opened the poke bowls at home and none of them had any sauces. We checked the receipt and it listed all the sauces we ordered. We then called and talked to someone there, and she immediately knew who prepped the food without even asking our name, and put her on the phone. The food preparer said that she remembered adding sauces, so I offered to send photos or a video of the bowls with no sauces. She then gave the phone to her manager. The manager said they couldn't have forgotten the sauces, and when I offered to send a photo or video of what I received, she said we could drive back and get sauces but that was our only option. I said we live twenty minutes away, and she said we could still drive and get them. That's not okay. They should have cared just a little. They could have given us some credit or at least apologized. We were regular customers and they messed up our order and didn't...
Read moreEdit: they've started including not fresh fish in the bowls. I'm done eating here. It's gross. I ordered two kinds of fish and had three colors of fish in my bowl - red, orange, and GRAY! NASTY! Dear owner, you lost a regular and your restaurant won't last long if you keep serving your old fish to customers. Edit: I've ordered four more times and the portions of fish have been significantly smaller. The fish is cut into smaller pieces and less it's quantity overall. Definitely doesn't qualify as huge anymore. Still yummy, though. Original review: I ordered to go. I was impressed by the sealed food bag, the HUGE size of the "small" poke bowl, and the freshness of the ingredients. This is definitely the best poke I've had in Sacramento! Maybe the best anywhere. Really delicious. I also like the offerings for toppings. I don't usually see crispy garlic as a topping. I got the regular shoyu sauce and I barely tasted it, but the bowl was so fresh and delicious it didn't need to be heavily sauced. I'll definitely be ordering from Fish & Things again....
