Sam's Sub Shop — Restaurant in California

First time coming to order food here and why I didn't visit this place sooner is odd to me since I live close by. But happy I did. May look small outdude but as you walk inside its cozy, clean and you can't help but see the huge menu on the wall that it took me afew minutes to choose something cause all looked so good. Plus your supporting snall business so it was nice to give back. While waiting for my order, chatted with these two men who try to come to eat here alot to this sub shop that they make it date an actually drive an hour just to eat here. Said they love the food items and cant find hardly a place that offer certain food items so tasty. Wow! So when I got took my food home it smelled so good couldnt wait to see what these two men meant about this shop. It was tasty and now I too make trips to order from this place. Let's start with the positive: the wings were tasty (I got the "hot" level) and my lips were certainly feeling the heat for about 20 minutes after I left. They were meaty and good size.

The selection of sandwiches is great, but the quality was poor. Mine was supposed to be a combination of steak and pastrami. It looked like it had been made in about 10 seconds as there was one big blob of mustard and one end of the roll had steak and the other had a small ball of pastrami. The other ingredients (peppers, pickles, onions) looked and tasted like they had been sitting out for a couple days.

I certainly don't go to a sub shop for the decor, but this place is tacky. A cardboard box holds the napkins and the plants lining the window looks like a garage sale.

I like supporting small business, it’s near my job, and they make a good cheeseburger so I have frequented. On my last visit a couple days ago, I decided I would not be returning. The man who served me was not friendly at all. The menu clearly states combos come with drink and fries. I added avocado and was not seemingly charged. When I asked for my drink cup, he said it was extra. I’m thinking okay whatever, hard times for small businesses. But when my burger was ready there were no fries and when asked, he told me it was extra charge as I’m reading the combo menu to him!
