This will take some time- buckle up. My wife tackled a new garbage disposal today while I watched a meaningless (but meaningful ) baseball game…I knew I had best take her out and already had reservations! This was our first visit, and we quickly realized there was zero smoke from a prescribed burn, and my indoor reservations might have been a mistake. The hostess was gracious and said “lets go check outside and see if you like it.” Like it we did…such an amazing outdoor space, and I kind of want to play that beautiful little stage. Quick service, got our drinks and a salad (we ordered two) really fast, and all the food brought out was AMAZING (Mediterranean salad and the melon and berry special)…I was drooling for the pizza. And sure enough, here it comes! Oh no…it os the wrong one. I had ordered the peachy pig, and what we had in front of us was a figgy pig. Knowing how hard restaurant work is, I have not in 53 years sent anything back. I looked at our server, explained the issue and that I cannot eat figs, and he quickly resolved my existential crisis with a smile, whisking the figs away and saying that the right Pizza would on our table in about five minutes. I felt so bad…but figs? Nope. And arrive it did! Now, this is not a traditional thing. This is a specific north bay thing that is beautiful. Sourdough…most will not get it, but we have to have it. When it is crunchy on the outside and chewy and tangy on the inside, you could put dirt and okra on it and I am going to eat it, but this pizza took that base and added flavors that perfectly balanced it. We make sourdough pizza at home…this gave us some new ideas. That Pizza is now my favorite in a county where we are blessed by good Pizza (the others are very close) because the sourdough makes it next level. TLDR? Staff- super rad. Food- what the…this is why I live in Sonoma County. Ambiance- Oh my god y’all are gonna love the patio. Prices? They are pretty proud of what they serve, and I knew going in I was going to drop some cash. Date day is always worth and this place lived up to every expectation I had, and was worth every penny I spent to get it. Thanks folks, we...
Read moreUpscale gourmet pizza experience, but quite pricey and an overly formal event booking process more reminiscent of booking a wedding event than the pizza place I was hoping for. The pizzas were GOOD, wood fired in the Italian style but with American style toppings, aka a lot of stuff (which I like). Not living in the area any more, I found and booked the place via Google maps for the max 11pp with a note we would have more. This kicked off a 15 email back and forth setting up a custom menu and invoices. This was required by the restaurant for groups of 12+, we ultimately were 20.
This meant that the price was fixed per person regardless of what people ate. Our price with the lowest food option($35pp) with cheese plates was $1200 for 20 people at about $50pp after service charge and taxes, drinks not included. I think the price is steep but acceptable for the quality of food, but what was not a pleasant experience was booking what felt like a private wedding event.
I was hoping for a chill pizza place, but instead making a reservation required many emails, 'selecting a custom menu' and putting down a (not automated via google/resy) minimum deposit after the menu was done.
Additionally, all this extra steps meant that I was charged per headcount, which meant that people who came and "just had a slice of pizza" or "ordered something different on the side" I was still charged the $50pp of course, putting me in the awkward position of the cashier to collect money.
One great thing, the event coordinator, on accident, over counted our headcount, which I noticed when looking at our group picture. Upon email notification of this they updated the bill without any fuss which was...
Read moreTwo visits, a table of 8 last summer outside, and a table of 6 last week inside. Pizza are good to excellent, both crust types enjoyable. Wines are good but pricey especially when you factor in tax and tip for non-existent wine service. On both occasions service was subpar, with the exception of a nice guy who took part-care of us last week. Waitress (the same both times) oblivious or indifferent (hard to say). Last week, wine and drinks served when we were just finished with our Caesar salads (which must have taken 90 seconds to make), and then just plopped on the table without a word. We served ourselves. At one point, waiting for our clearly visible beverages we gently gestured to the hostess with a smile, she hushed us with a two hands calm down gesture (we were not upset or rushing them), probably the rudest thing I've seen in a restaurant. The two orders of garlic bread were served with our pizzas, with our part-time waiter offering 'I'm not sure why these are coming out now'. Well, that's one way to put it. We are an easy group and understand things happen. In our visits, however, the lack of care/competence and communication was a feature throughout the...
