Mama's Hummus — Restaurant in Camarillo

This place is a sorry and poor excuse of a middle eastern restaurant. Please dont waste your money here or you will learn the hard way. I live across the street and have been here a few times and each time I kept telling myself maybe the food will be better next time. Their falafel balls have a bad after taste in the back of your mouth as if cooked with old or burnt oil. The cake I recently purchased was stale. The meat doesn't taste quality at all. Their pita bread is hard most times. If your going to sell a custom slice of cake for almost $9 you might want to check the freshness of it. I asked my husband to call the restaurant and let them know about the dessert situation and Abby said she would contact the owner and let him know. Two days later and still no call back, so i had my husband go and take the receipt and cake to request a refund in person and they pretty much told him things like this take time. Long story short we got lied to. How sorry of a place. I expected better from a middle eastern owner. Pathetic...

My family and I stopped going to this chain after encountering an extremely rude associate at the Newbury Park location. We avoided eating here for 4 years simply choosing other restaurants or cooking these dishes at home.

I took a chance by revisiting the chain at a different location. I debated ordering online or over the phone so I looked up the menu and pricing online. I was surprised to see that once I paid for our meal that the online pricing and the actual price I paid were different. Now it is not such a significant difference however for transparency you think these prices should always match.

The atmosphere is neither good nor bad. The woman operating the cash register seemed very displeased by simply having to be there. My experience with the staff at mama hummus is always so disappointing. If they are not angry they are simply miserable. The food itself is typically good considering this is a chain restaurant. My Wife loves Greek food! First time at Mama's Hummus and I'm at the wrong one. We accidentally ordered food from the Newberry Park restaurant over the phone (so make sure you know which place you are calling before you order) but thankfully the lady at the counter didn't make a big deal about it. Although my $40 dollar meal was ready she gave me the choice to drive to go get it or have them make it there. We just drove there (Camarillo) from Port Hueneme and I did NOT want to drive up the Conejo Grade, at night with Friday traffic to go get. Thankfully they called the other place to get my order and made it there. I felt bad but they NEVER made me feel like it was a bother even though I knew WE screwed up. Food was worth the drive. My wife will miss eating lunch there every day now that she will return to her office in Ventura. But I'm sure I will have to make a Mama's Hummus run on...
