I was in town for a visit and staying at a hotel across the streetâŠ. Their menu was at the hotel and the hotel was kind enough to advertise for the restaurant. There has been an agreement that the hotel guests will get. A 12% discount so I wanted to support them. Since I just got to the hotel an hour ago, I called in the order before they closed and informed them that I was staying at the hotel and whether the 12% discount applied and he (Jose Valencia) said yes he gave me the amount I owed him over the phone as 27$+âI thought perhaps I misread since online it came out to 22$ (with the hotel discount). Sales taxes, lower than 10% so you do the math. I slept by the lobby and double checked the menu because I thought I made a mistake but I didnât so I drove over to get my food and I asked him if he applied the discount. Now he tells me I owe him 31 Something I Economy+⊠I asked him kindly to give him opp to give clarity but he got angry bc he apparently got caught. I tried to make it real easy by having my phone calculator out. I asked him if the prices went up and he says yes, so I looked at his menu and typed in the two items, but it still didnât subtotal what he had with the ânew menu pricesâ. He got angry because he didnât honor the hotel agreement and instead insults me and tells me I should go elsewhere as his prices are already low âŠwow⊠first of all he doesnât want to honor the agreement he made with the hotel then maybe the hotel should not be advertising for the resto and not be sending any more guests over. This man could use a lesson in hospitality And Cust svs skills. I shouldâve just left because it was so out of line of someone to get all passive aggressive on you when you are simply asking what the hotel agreement discount was honored and applied. When caught he got infuriated and...
Read moreWe had dinner in the Big Sur Restaurant in June, 2023 while staying overnight. I liked this little restaurant, even though it wasn't the fanciest. We had a nice server who was nice and seemed to do a decent job. Well except one thing. I'll get to that in a second. She took our order promptly. Our food came out fairly quick. There were other tables, but they were not crowded at the time. The food was pretty good. The portions were large enough that neither of us finished our dinners. And the prices were arguably, not too bad. They were not cheap. But they also were not overly expensive either. I guess I would say somewhat fair in this day and age. Now the one thing. What is it about this area that no matter where we sit down to eat, they get the order wrong. Is this a normal California thing? I ordered a steak rare. She even read it back to us as raw. But when the steak came, it wasn't remotely rare. As such, a good dose of A1 sauce made it a little better. But not all that great. I put on a smile and ate my dinner when she asked. I will not say anything. If in a rare situation, I do. Well then that won't be until after we are done eating. So she probably never knew. The part that aggravated me, was the check came with it reading, well done instead of the rare or raw she read back to us. This was the only blemish worth mentioning. Other than that, it was a decent dinner. It would have been better had my steak been rare, the way I like it and always order it. But I ate the well done steak anyway. But mistakes like that should not happen. Why read it back if your going to still put in the...
Read moreWe waited almost half an hour for our dishes to come in. It was when we saw that both cook are already out of the kitchen like there was nothing else left to make and we decided to ask them to speed up. One of the cook/manager told us without any hesitation that we canât speed up the dishes and it is done by order. But the other table who arrived like 10 mins later than us had all 4 dishes they ordered. I told him this fact and they go to check the ordering machine. It was then they found that our order never made it to the kitchen âcause the darn ordering machine is broken. The manager came to tell us that and he expressed no apology or sorry for us. It seems that they got no regret. An original part of the conversation goes, (me)âso this is the restaurantâs fault right?â (Manager) âyes, but the most important part is to find the problem.â Hey, wait a minute, I donât get it why we have to deal with the mistakes you make and we got nothing in return? Not even a single penny of discount. I very much donât like the attitude of this restaurant. We also had to ask for our water instead of them giving us. They donât deserve any tips although our pity made us leaving some.. if I can give zero star for this restaurant, I wouldnât...
