We arrived late and found our room key taped to the front door of the office. When we tried to get in the room, the key didn’t work. I called the number on the front door of the office and a gentleman gave me another key. It didn’t work. He ended up coming up to the room and couldn’t get in either so they gave us a different room. We were too tired to even discuss it but to say that that room was a $40 room and not an $85 room is an understatement. I would have fixed the showerhead myself, but didn’t have my tools. It was spraying water all over the place. I managed to get it hand tightened enough to be able to take a decent shower after waiting almost 5 minutes for the hot water to appear. The led light wrapped around the mirror didn’t work. So instead, they had a touch table lamp, standing in the corner of the vanity eating up space. The outlet under the vanity doesn’t have a plate on it. Great child injury, hazard. Outside of the room was a dump. Literally. Garbage was everywhere and none of it had been picked up for three days that we were there. The were no tissues in the room at all, and when I got a box from a maid, it wouldn’t sit in the vanity because of a missing clip and we put out in the room. When we asked for an extra washcloth, we were first denied, then given one finally by a head housekeeper. The ceiling fan was hooked up to an overhead light so we couldn’t run just the fan at night. Which was a drag because the wall heater – A/C unit was noisy and had to be turned off using the breaker on the plug. You could turn off the function, but the fan wouldn’t stop and then it started making weird noises in the middle of the night. The room they moved us to was right beside the ice machine. We were reminded of this two mornings in a row around 5 o’clock when it decided to intermittently start dumping ice into its hopper. The first morning we went to breakfast. They were a bit light on food, but it was there. The traditional choice hotels’ egg and sausage pucks. The egg pucks were still cold and there isn’t a microwave to warm them up. No half-and-half creamer. The international delight stuff takes eight containers of pseudo creamer to lighten your coffee and we ended up using whole milk. The second morning, there was lots of orange juice, but it was warm. The food was better the second day in that was warmer. When I wanted to pay with a different credit card from the one which I reserved with, I was told it was too late. He’d already put the charges through for the three nights on that credit card. It’s a really good thing that I didn’t want to move hotels I guess. All in all, the pictures and the write up on your website are very deceiving. And I’m finding that more often with choice properties. 2200 mile drive and we ended up staying there because it was a busy weekend and every hotel parking lot were full so I probably wouldn’t have had a chance to go anywhere else anyway. Read moreWe have stayed at Comfort Inn several times across the U.S. and never have been disappointed. We can't believe Comfort Inn allows its name to appear on this motel. I have pictures I would be willing to share with you if you are interested. I will list the issues in order of their annoyance. We were in room #111. We slept OK once I resolved the AC issue. Air/heater unit. Upon arrival the unit would not turn on. I found there was a circuit breaker on the power plug. I was able to reset the breaker. The unit then turned on and I was able to get heat working. The fan speed would not regulate; it stayed on high. The unit was very noisy. When the room was getting too hot, I tried to turn the unit off. All the lights on the console went out but the unit continued to noisily run. No heat or air was coming out, but it continued to run. After several hours I tripped the breaker in the power plug to shut it off. Somebody had obviously tripped this breaker before we arrived to shut the unit off. The mirror over the bathroom sink. It is a large circular mirror with a lighting track around the circumference. The lighting track was visibly broken. Their solution was to put a table lamp with no shade on the counter next to the mirror. The complimentary breakfast. There was a coffee dispenser machine, one side was regular coffee, the other was supposed to be decaffeinated which we drink. That side had adhesive tape covering the decaffeinated sign. There was no decaffeinated coffee. The breakfast service was from 7am to 10am. We were there at 9am on the second day and they were out of yogurt. I asked if they had any more and I was told no. In general, the breakfast room just didn't look as inviting as we have come to expect from our other Comfort Inn stays. Appearance of the Inn. The main entrance steps were stained and not swept. The small carpets inside and outside the entry door were dirty. Again, it is surprising that Comfort Inn allows their name on this place. The room never got really dark. The window coverings are shutters, no blackout curtains. Directly behind our room was a well-lit parking lot. The lights from the lot against the closed shutters created dim light in the room. As I said in the beginning, we were able to sleep OK. Thanks...
Read moreAfter my pre-paid two night stay was close to perfect, Tomy at the front desk made a terrible mistake at check-out: he promised me he was not going to charge my credit card and then he went right ahead and did exactly that, shortly after I left. Tomy, I told you I had paid for my stay, I showed you paper receipts, I showed you screen shots of my credit card proof of payment. I definitely pre-paid for my stay. You guys had a reservation in my name from this travel website because it showed in your system at check-in. So why the extremely poor customer service? Furthermore, I called you a couple of hours after check-out: I complained about you lying to me and then you lied again, reassuring me it would all be resolved in the next 24 hrs. Well, nothing was resolved, it has been over two weeks and I have a double charge on my credit card. So I have put my real job on-hold and I'm calling you guys (to no avail), calling my credit card company (to initiate an obvious dispute of charges), calling the travel website (to demand a fair or unfair refund, at this point I do not even know) and basically working and trying to fix the problem despite the fact that I shouldn't be working this hard because I am your customer! For anybody that tolerated reading this far, if you are planning a stay at San Simeon, the Pacific Coast Roadhouse is well located, clean, recently renovated and even has a good included breakfast but still, avoid it...
