I recently stayed at the Silver Surf Lodge in San Simeon, hoping for a relaxing time as I had enjoyed my previous visit. The front desk receptionist was as pleasant and polite as I remembered, providing exceptional customer service. Unfortunately, my experience this time was marred by the behavior of the manager. I booked a one-night stay, and the room was clean and the bed comfortable, just like before. However, during the late night and early morning, I got chilly and tried to turn on the heat, but it didn’t work. I decided to address it in the morning when I planned to extend my stay. When I went to the office, no one was there initially. After waiting, a middle-aged Hispanic gentleman with gray hair, whom I believe is the manager, came out and glared at me without saying a word. When I asked about extending my stay and having the heat fixed, he rudely responded, “I need more information than that.” I was appalled by his lack of professionalism and basic customer service skills. He didn’t ask for my room number or name, which is standard practice. He quoted a nightly rate that was significantly higher than what I saw online. I told him I would book it online and asked if I should come back in an hour to confirm. He curtly told me to come back at 9:30, even though it was only 8:27. His demeanor was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I returned to my room, waiting for the heat to be fixed, but no one came. When I went back to check on my reservation and the heat issue, the friendly receptionist was there. I explained the situation, and the manager came out again, starting more problems. He rudely told me, “If you want it done, get out of the room.” I would have gladly left if he had communicated this earlier or if someone had come to ask. The receptionist looked very uncomfortable due to the manager’s poor behavior. I left the office to avoid confrontation. When I returned, the heat was fixed but set to 90 degrees, which felt like a joke. Feeling uncomfortable and harassed, I packed my things and left, leaving the keys at the front desk. I reached out to the third-party booking site for a refund, but the manager claimed he did nothing wrong. His behavior was unacceptable, and he should consider seeking behavioral health services or counseling for his issues. No one deserves to be treated this way. Based on my experience with the harassing manager, I would absolutely not recommend...
Read moreThroughout the entire night of the stay this loud noise repeatedly kept banging inside of the wall. It was not another guest in their room. I believe it was the plumbing or something. Constantly all night every minute it repeated over and over. I got barely any sleep and was tired trying to drive the next day. I do not appreciate spending almost $200 with no apology or compensation for the lack of sleep. You book a hotel to sleep in. I had a lot of driving to do the next day as we were trying to take a vacation. I booked this to be closer to the start of our trip and to be well rested. Unfortunately all I got was $200 spent and no sleep. I shouldve just stayed home. Or slept in the car.
Now that I have a problem nobody seems to care. I don't know what guarantee Priceline offered but they aren't doing anything to help me and they are done. They said once they charge the money they can't do anything. Not really sure why they offer a Priceline guarantee if it covers nothing. I would appreciate at least 50% back if not an entirely full refund because the lack of concern at this point. I'm very frustrated and upset that I have wasted this time money and effort on this issue. Everyone got paid and nobody cares. I don't feel it's right to scam people in the process and get away with it. It's bad business. It's deceiving. I have 3 videos but I see no where to add them. Imagine a banging in the wall constantly repeating getting louder and quieter throughout the entire night... another concern is that Priceline had the wrong information on their site. They said there was a 24-hr desk clerk. Desk closed at 11. I arrived at about 1040. Barely made it. I couldn't even change rooms because the desk closed.
In the morning I reported the problem to the front desk worker who admitted the noise but did not apologize or help. He told me to find the managers email address on their website! Ive emailed the owner with no reply. I also called Priceline several times but they won't help me, they say theyre not allowed to do a refund and will contact the owner but the owner said no. Bottom line- DO NOT STAY HERE. BUYER BEWARE. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! I have filed with my credit card company and the Better Business Bureau. Hopefully they will have...
Read moreWe stayed here about 7 years ago and as I remember it, it was am enjoyable stay. This time, not so much. Two days before our arrival date I called the motel to ask for a downstairs room. No one answered the phone. After numerous times calling over two days I was getting a bit worried, even calling a neighboring business to ask if the motel was still in business. We arrived at 1:30, knowing that check in time was 3:00PM. No one was manning the front desk so we called out before someone came out of the back. I asked if there was anyway to check in early. The man, who I assume was the manager (didn't get a name) kept insisting that check in was at 3, and I acknowledged that, but asked about an early check in anyway. He grabbed my ID and credit card, walked over to the computer, printed out our keys and handed them to me all the time not saying a word. I asked him about the phone number and he said (paraphrasing) "I don't have to answer the phone with everything else I do". I asked if he had an answering service and he curtly said "no". Now is about the time my Spidey senses started kicking in. he wasn't rude, just indifferent. Which I think was worse, making me wonder how this place stays in business. The room was a good size, no dresser (which would have been nice since we were there for 4 nights), Direct TV (no local channels). The base boards were dirty and there was a stain on the wall. Looked like either blood or strawberry jam (see picture). The housekeeper told me it was makeup (which I find hard to believe since it was located below knee level next to where you hang your clothes}, and she made no effort to clean it off. Since I was in the room when she would come she'd bring clean towels and coffee at my request but at no time did she ever take the dirty towels away. So when we left there was pile of dirty towels on the bathroom floor. Bottom line, the fact that people working there didn't really seem to care bothered...
