Incredible food, better than most things I kind in China town. Very interesting story and unique. The food is FRESH tasting from the handpulled noodles to veggies. It's light, can be spicy in a great way and yet heavy in the right ways. Felt great and full after.
Excellent drinks the sweet milk and tea was way better than I expected, almost like dessert. This all just really surprised me, like it looked good but I didn't know it would be this good.
I will be coming back soon to try more dishes. We tried the Jahunger original dish and the Orginal Meefen extra spicy
We were so pleased.
Second visit update: We got the chicken stew to split with a cup of rice and honey cake.
The stew was spicy (unique Chinese spicy different than Latin spicy) and delicious, and huge! we could tell it was authentic and learned from a staff about the cultural significance of having the bones in the chicken still and in the stew (i picked out the bones as i found them, it's a hardy stew, the flat noodles and potatoes and veggies are amazing in it. So so good.
The honey cake was really yummy, kinda of a honey/molasses flavor with very creamy and yummy coffee flavored ice cream I think. The cake is make in house like all the other dishes, nothing bought at other places and then sold here.
Great service, they are just starting out so I'm sure they will continue in the same excellent manner.
Oh and I LOVE the pictures on the walls and vibe/design of the place.
3rd visit update: We went on a weekend, there was a line and about an hour to an hour in a half wait. Staff was friendly.
I tried the plum drink, it tasted medicinal and wasent my fav but others might enjoy it.
I tried the coconut milk drink, that was really good and very flavorful.
I tried the Meefen (not the original) and it also tasted a little medicinal, it also tasted like Mexican mole and noodles, very interesting. It was dark and heavy, deep flavors and a staff told us the chili's used were imported from the area the plate was created! So cool! Loved that's facts it makes the food more special. It was spicy but it didn't kill me like a fresh Habanero would, they put alot of caution about the spiciness and if you not used to spice I think it would be considered spicy. It's a really fun spicy, kinda numbs the mouth I stead of pains it like Latin spice does. I personally didn't love the flavor of the dish but others might enjoy it.
I tried the lamb kabobs (unsure the name) they were AMAZING! Perfectly cooked and flavored with cayenne, cumin and salt is what I could taste.
The lamb potsticker looking things were good, the inside was pink and I was nervous it wasent cooked but I was told it was, good flavor, amazing dough. Im excited to try the next dishes.
4th visit update: Tried the non-alcoholic milk beer, straight from China. Tastes like sweeten condensed milk and beer, really good actually!
Scallion pancake is THICK, chewy and crispy and really yummy.
The stirfry beans were pur fav appitizer they are crispy and cooked with peppers, they are spicy and really good. I would say it could couple well with rice.
The ding ding noodles are a great fresh veggies, tomatoe-y flavor. Like savory gourmet mac and cheese. This is on my top fav dishes.
They still don't have their liquor license so alcohol is still unavailable.
Next visit: Spicy potatos: really good, spicy, don't think about it as potatoes, imagine cabbage or something more crunchy. Great flavor and a fun dish. Very thin sliced maybe barely cooked?
The noodles dish that starts with an L. Tomato based soup/sauce. Really comforting. Thick Chunky noodles. I really likes it.
Found out about their SECRET MENU ITEM! Mutton noodle soup. It was like chicken noodle but with mutton, heavy celery taste, presentation was great and the jujube(Chinese dates) were really fun and good.
Ice cream Boba stick was very taste probably my fave desert
Update June 2025, they have a qr code menu now instead of the other menus. Still no liquor license. Staff is taking long
Top dishes: Original meefen Ding ding...
Read moreI absolutely loved their first location in Providence, so I was thrilled to discover they had opened a second location in Cambridge—perfect timing as I was planning a Thanksgiving trip to Boston with my family! Hearing that their head chef is a James Beard Award semi-finalist made me even more excited to try this location. The restaurant is conveniently located near major universities like MIT and Harvard, and the large parking lot in the back made visiting super easy.
We enjoyed the food so much that we either dined in or took out from the restaurant three days in a row, trying nearly everything on the menu. Some highlights included the Kavap, Samsa, Scallion Pancake, Handmade Lamb Dumplings, Jahunger Noodle, Polo, Original Meefen, Meefen, Spicy Tiger, Lamb on Dry Land, and Spicy Beef Tripe.
For my kids, the Samsa, dumplings, scallion pancake, and Polo were big hits. These are some of the milder, non-spicy options, yet they were bursting with flavor—perfectly seasoned and satisfying for younger kids.
As a huge fan of spicy noodles, I was delighted by the Jahunger Noodles and Meefen dishes—they were just as incredible as I remembered from Providence. We also tried their new dish, the Spicy Beef Tripe, and wow, it was a game-changer! The tripe was crispy and chewy at the same time, with a spicy, tingly flavor that was addictive and satisfying. It paired beautifully with both noodles and rice dishes. Truly a must-try!
What sets Jahunger apart is how their food feels both familiar and refreshingly unique. While there are plenty of hand-pulled noodle places, none compare to Jahunger. Their noodles are irresistibly chewy and flavorful. I even ordered extra white rice just to enjoy their sauces on top—they’re that good. I wish they would sell their sauces for at-home use because I’d be stocking up in a heartbeat!
The Lamb on Dry Land and Spicy Tiger (eggplant) dishes also stood out. The lamb was perfectly tender and infused with bold spices, while the eggplant had a smoky, rich flavor with just the right amount of heat. Everything we tried showcased the same high quality and attention to detail we loved in Providence.
Their second location proves they can deliver the same incredible flavors and consistency we’ve come to expect. We’re super impressed and can’t wait to visit again. Amazing job, Jahunger team—keep up...
Read moreI’m deeply disappointed and disturbed by the treatment we received at this restaurant. Our group of five was told we had to wait for the next available table, even though we witnessed a group of three being immediately seated at a large table that could have easily accommodated us. When we politely asked why, the staff offered no reasonable explanation. The differential treatment felt discriminatory and left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable.
Restaurants should treat all patrons with respect and fairness, regardless of who they are. What we experienced was not only poor customer service but crossed a line into what appeared to be biased decision-making. There are plenty of establishments that value their guests — I strongly urge others to avoid this one until they address their unacceptable behavior.
Reponse to Owner's reponse: Thank you for your response. However, I would like to clarify a few key points based on our experience.
Our group and the group of three arrived at essentially the same time. While we understand and respect a first-come, first-served policy, we witnessed that there were multiple small tables available, including one large table that could accommodate more than three people. That group of three was seated immediately at the larger table before us, while we were told to wait.
When I politely inquired at the front desk whether it might be possible to adjust the seating arrangement so both groups could be accommodated efficiently, I received no direct explanation or consideration. Instead, we were asked to continue waiting.
Additionally, we were informed that a table for five would be ready in about 10 minutes — however, we waited nearly 30 minutes, during which we saw several smaller parties (three or fewer) being seated at available tables. This only added to the feeling that our group was being overlooked without clear reason.
Respectful and fair treatment is a reasonable expectation for any customer. Unfortunately, that was not our...
