I am SO glad I discovered Zinneken's! I've walked by so many times after nightfall, delighting in the scent of hot, fresh waffles and sugar wafting out the door. They're open late at night, which makes for great post-dinner dessert stop and a popular meeting spot for college students. There are quite a few options for waffle toppings, though late at night some may be unavailable. My waffle came with strawberries as well as, of course, syrup and powdered sugar. The strawberries were nothing special - not at peak ripeness (or peak sweetness) - but the toasty waffle delivered on crispness. More than the waffles themselves, I appreciated the ambiance of Zinneken's for its cozy, intimate feel. The only downside is that the interior is quite small. It was packed when we entered and we were asked to take our orders to go, though it ultimately cleared up before we left and we ended up enjoying our waffles from their takeout boxes.

Parking & Seating: If you are coming here by car, good luck finding a street parking spot, this area is always busy and difficult to get a parking spot. The restaurant is very small, the place is also very crowded, probably a small wait to get your table, grab a table if you can before you order. This place is not suitable for large groups. Service: service is very friendly and extremely fast. We wanted to try one of each ( liege and belgian) however the Belgian was sold out at the time, also they were out of raspberries so we had to settle for the strawberries. Food/Waffles: We had 1) a custom waffle with Nutella, strawberries and ice-cream. 2) second one was from their favorite 10, called “the chocolate”. The waffles were brought to our table almost immediately, they were warm, nothing that will amaze you but delicious. We will definitely be back….. enjoy your waffle.

For those nocturnal cravings or even midday sugar fixes, Zinneken's Waffles in Harvard Square offers a quick and affordable solution. Despite being a chain, the quality of their offerings manages to surpass many brunch spots in the city, making it a favored haunt for Harvard students. Their menu caters to every sweet tooth, offering waffles dressed in various toppings. I tried the Zinneken’s, the Gourmand, and the Oreo Freakin’ Party, and everything was superb. Despite the generously laden waffles, Zinneken's doesn't sacrifice quality or skimp on toppings. The waffles themselves are fluffy and golden, providing a comforting base that beautifully complements the variety of toppings. And if you're feeling somewhat guilty about the sugar content, fear not; their simple yet scrumptious combination of waffles and whipped cream makes for a lighter yet satisfying treat.

I feel like it's an obligation to go here whenever I visit Harvard Square. The waffles are so good. It's fairly priced as well. I would recommend going at an "awkward time" like 15:00 or so, because it won't be crowded at that time, since it's not a popular time to eat. It's a small cafe and could easily be missed. When it's crowded, it's hard to get a seat. So, that's why I recommend an unconventional time. That's just me though. This place raised my standard for waffles, since they're actual Belgian waffles. The batter is different than what you'd usually get at an American breakfast restaurant. Also, no syrup on the waffle :P These waffles are not meant for syrup, but other nice, tasty, and beautiful toppings. The staff were nice as well. They bring the food and utensils to your table. Furthermore, there's some complimentary water.

This location is not suitable for large groups greater than 3 people. There are narrow steps to enter a cozy almost house like feeling restaurant for breakfast. Seating is first-come first-serve so find a spot before you order if you can. The liege waffles were nice and chewy. I got one with Nutella, which had a lot of Nutella but not too much as to overpower the waffle. The waffle plates had great presentation with powdered sugar. The berries on my friend’s waffle looked very fresh. The restaurant has a nice low key vibe and a great aroma. We did not need to wait long for our waffles. I couldn’t find napkins. They also sell coffee and tea here. I would go back and perhaps get a plain waffle since I liked the waffle a lot.
