The food is great and Chef de Crepe is a place we normally look forward to for special occasions because it’s rare that my partner and I are able to go out to breakfast dates together. Today we left profoundly disappointed and we aren’t sure if we’ll be back. There needs to be MUCH better communication and training of staff

We saw the social media post yesterday about the secret menu item and decided we would splurge on breakfast. The concept was cool and whimsical and fun. We made plans to be there at 8am when they opened and excitedly used the code phrase ‘May I have a ticket to Santo Domingo?’ Our server (Mary Ann) had absolutely NO clue what we were talking about. She had us repeat it, then asked to see our cell phone so she could it for herself (embarrassing!) Then without leaving the table she dismissively told us that the owner wouldn’t be in until later today so it’s not available right now but maybe we can come back and get it. Deflated, I settled on another breakfast option.

After our food had already come out and we had finished eating, she gleefully came to our table with another waiter holding the croissant and told us “the owner told the cooks how to make this you could have gotten this after all! Would you like to try it?” I told her yes, but I was full and we had just finished our breakfast and her response was “you could just buy it to-go”. I would have LOVED to try it - if it had been offered for free. But being awkwardly strong-armed into paying for an additional entree to-go after we had already finished eating our entrees? Buying food at full price that won’t taste its best as a leftover? In this economy? Absolutely not. At NO point did she offer it to us for free (or even at a discount!) and we were left feeling really disgusted, uncomfortable, and disappointed.

I get it, customers aren’t entitled to a “free” anything but the whole combination of ‘you didn’t even bother to check whether you were doing the croissant so we missed out on the one thing you came in for’ and ‘the cook made it so you should feel obligated to buy it because you expressed interest in it’ left us feeling gross.

The amount of miscommunication between the owner and staff and our waitress not even making a token attempt to check on the availability or doing any sort of customer recovery has soured our feelings of eating...

Good food, terrible service! I experience the worst wait staff in my life today. We were seated, ordered, and then watched as every table around us got water, then coffee and drinks, then food while we had an empty table. We were told they had no carafs left for water, no coffee ready, and we got none while those around us did! It was nearly unbelievable, actually almost gaslighting...sad as we took our food to go and it was good. Except they forgot my croissant which the waitress said was being toasted (?) a half hour earlier...wild! We won't be back.

Update: The response from the owner seen below is largely false. The server was not appologetic and was not honest when we asked for water, our coffee, and when our food would be out. When we got up to leave she begged us to stay and admitted that she had forgotten to put our order in but even then did not appologize. The items removed from our bill were never brought to our table, including an extra croissant ordered that 'toasted' for 30 minutes. I am very easily pleased and as I work in the hopitality industry I understand how things go. We did treat your server with respect and gave her the benefit of the doubt right until the 3rd group seated after us was served tbeir drinks and food by her. The was enough for us. As small business owners we must be honest and forthright above all else, in your response to my review you have shown that you are neither. We paid for our meals, they were good but they would have been much better at a table in your lovely establishment. I hope you can train the employee in question, your other servers did a very nice job and seemed to have no trouble getting water, coffee and orders for...

Would have been 3 stars except the owner came out to talk to us after we reported an issue with the chicken salad.

First, we had been to their previous location several times. Menu was smaller as was the dining room. This location is larger with more offerings. We arrived around noon and were lucky to get the last table as we saw someone that came in just after us wait close to 45 minutes. The temperature was relatively cool but the restrooms were very cold.

Service is average, nothing special. We had to ask another server for napkins and tableware. The food was presented well though though they were out of the croissants for the chicken salad but the brioche roll was very good as was the dressing on the salad. We both ordered the chicken salad sandwich and unfortunately, we both got pieces of bone/cartilage in our sandwiches. The server did report this and the owner came to talk to us. He explained that normally he debones the chicken but this time someone else had and obviously missed a few inedible pieces. Overall though the chicken salad was well seasoned with good texture.

We did do take home of several crepes and a burger, all of which were good.

The only other downside was that it was very noisy, almost comparable to a bar. I think outside would have been quieter, even with traffic. Voices really carry inside and you get one or two "loud talkers" and they drown out other conversations, no matter how far away they are sitting from you. Evidently they never learned how to use an...
