My husband and I were craving veal as it is something we have not had in a long time. We did a Google search and found the menu for Dolce Vita online (they have like 9 veal dishes). Looked good, was only 15 minutes from our hotel. The restaurant is small, so the word cozy and quaint will come to mind. The sign "wait to be seat" is there when you walk in the door, which is the same way the waitress speaks. The menu has the Italian dish names with what is in it very clearly spelled out. Our waitress brought us water and bread quickly. Everything was clean and prepared when we walked in. We ordered the Veal Piccata and another Veal dish that was a special and wrapped in prosciutto and spinach. All entrees come with a salad, and I highly recommend the homemade creamy balsamic, it is fantastic! I am usually not a tomato or a basalmic fan but this place won me over. Tomatoes tasted and looked garden fresh, store bought tomatoes I have ever had never tasted so sweet or had such a hearty texture. Our entrees came out looking and smelling fantastic. They definitely feed you here! All of it was perfectly cooked, pasta had the perfect texture, and the sauce was light and very flavorful. I had to force myself to stop eating cause I wanted dessert. We got 2 desserts, why? Because I am an adult and make my own damn decisions. We had the Tiramisu and a lemon mascarpone cheese cake. I haven't had a tiramisu that perfect since my cousin visited home from Italy. And the cheese cake? I almost scarfed it down in one bite. It was as light as a lemon mousse. Who ever down rated this place had no patience and had no palate for good food, welcoming atmosphere, and amazing service. I saw every staff member helping and not one of them complained or even stopped moving. As an ex waitress I can say I love seeing that! Suffice to say, if you want fantastic food in a casual environment at a price that is not over the top, go to...
Read moreMy wife and I went here for dinner tonight. This was our second time here. Our first visit was a nice experience. Tonight we were the only diners in the restaurant. The server who I believe is part owner, took our order. We ordered our dinner and appetizer. She brought out bread and our salad in less then 2 minutes after taking our order. It only went downhill from there. Our appetizer was brought out while we were just eating our salad. The bruschetta, is suppose to be on toasted bread. It was smeared on top of the same bread we just had brought to our table. Not toasted. Come on! If you have ever been to Italy you would know that dinner is to be enjoyed and not rushed. Then the kitchen help brought out our dinner and handed them to our server. My veal tasted like it was old and slightly going. However, while we were eating dinner the kitchen help who handed our dinners to the server then propped the bathroom door open and proceeded to scrub the toilet and sink and wipe up the floor. First of all this is not what I want to see as I eat my dinner. This is totally unacceptable. My biggest issue he did not wash his hands!!! He then took the bottle of 409 back to the kitchen and immediately came out and grabbed a rack of bar glasses to take to the kitchen. Following that he then proceeded to bring silverware out in his hand and restocked the silverware station. That was it. I was finished with my meal. I would have gotten desert and coffee. My wife and I are not germaphobes, but that was beyond belief. We will never come back to Dolce Vita again. To top it off the server was on the phone the entire time on speaker. I worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years as a server and trainer. This is just not okay. There is absolutely no excuse for any of this other than poor training and a lack of respect...
Read moreFood was not good. I was looking for a good homemade Italian lasagna and chicken parm. When I ordered the woman asked if I could please make sure I had cash when I came. I told her I only had a bank card. Then she said well ok. I thought this was an odd request. The chicken parm was covered in so much sauce and thick chicken that was tough and had a large grizzly piece that kind of looked like uncooked skin. The sauce was extremely salty. The lasagna was heaped in sauce and had flat pasta like fettuccine noodles and not wide noodles. There was a little ground beef and I had to dig and look to find any ricotta! It was only one layer and not like any lasagna I’ve ever had. The salad was all iceberg one small slice of tomato, the size of a quarter, and one slice of cucumber cut in thirds. That’s it ! The “bread” was a think heavy pie shaped triangle that would have broke a window of ai threw it! Very heavy tough and dry. Not like any homemade Italian bread or rolls I’ve ever had. More like old thick pizza dough and coated in butter. Portions are small and I pd $40 for these two dinners. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Side walks are broken and inside looks dirty. Any what kind of resturant tells a customer to make sure you only bring cash?? No parking outside in front, poor lighting and not handicap accessible! I asked them if they had additional parking somewhere and they looked at me like I had three eyes. I repeated the question 4 times asking if there was somewhere else to park before they said, of course outback! Well how do you get “Outback” it was dark and no signs and it was my first time and I was just picking up food. So if you have mobility issues this is not a...
