I came on Thanksgiving as a solo diner. I was told I couldn't have the booth I had to take a table. The whole regular menu was gone, to my surprise and a holiday menu was put in. This menu had one salad, one soup, two entree (turkey or fish and both came with the same sides and no other sides were offered) and 2 desserts to choose from. 1st that is terrible selection 2nd none were available for anyone with any kind of diet restrictions. Nothing vegetarian, nothing gluten free I am gluten free, and also on an ayurvedic protocol for my diet. I can't have raw (salads), dairy (the soup had dairy), root vegetables (the sides were carrots and potatoes) or gluten (both desserts had gluten) But it was a holiday at 5pm where else was I to eat? So I stood. I ordered the turkey It was 2 thin medallions smaller than your fist, the potatoes were also smaller than your fist. The salad was tiny, the soup was tinier. The turkey was supposed to be a roulade with walnuts the entire plate was so small the inner stuffing consisted of one, half, of one walnut. Not only could I barely eat anything (without breaking all my dietary restrictions, which do make me ill) But I did eat it, all and still left HUNGRY I am a 130lb girl, and I left my $65 Thanksgiving meal ($125 after drinks) still hungry The dessert came out, the whipped cream was all over and looked nasty like a 3 year old was given the can.... Lastly I tried to subdue the bad-ness with some drinks and got told to get a cocktail shed have to go all the way to the bar out side and it would take time (I then later heard her happily get cocktails for a table of 4 and they were there super fast) so I decided to go with wine and I asked for the house pinot noir, and was told not only did they not have that wine but they didn't have a single house wine available at all "due to changing the menu" so instead of a $7 glass I was forced to buy a $12 glass (upon the fact that I had 3 glasses you see how they get their money) Honestly I was SO excited for this restaurant. Especially because I'm a new local living right down the street with a shuttle to the casino, but I don't gamble. But I DO eat and drink, it just won't be here.

The service was superb. We had Kimberly. She was terrific. We were seated in a booth with a view of the casino so I requested another booth for a more pleasant experience. They were accommodating about this. The menu has changed since we were here before. This was unfortunate. The only appetizer that looked interesting to me was the octopus. It was tasty but over cooked and extremely rubbery. The aioli dipping sauce was delicious. The soup of the day was French Onion. I usually love French Onion Soup because of the broiled crusty cheese on top of croutons. Not here. The cheese was merely melted on top of one average crouton. My partner’s Caesar Salad was delicious, however. I ordered the seafood trio. Whatever the sauce was for the scallops didn’t go well with scallops so I scraped it off. No sauce was offered for the shrimp so I just squeezed the lemon on them. That was only adequate. The lobster flavor was delicious but it was terribly overcooked. I had to borrow my partner’s steak knife to cut into it. His fillet mignon dinner was very good. Steer clear of the Octopus, French Onion Soup and Seafood Trio.

We parked in the free lot of the casino, but valet parking is also available. The food was good. We ordered the 6oz petite filet with seasoned potatoes and a side salad, the wrapped asparagus, the crispy Brussel sprouts, the seafood Mac and cheese, the Lobster Thermador, as well as an ice tea and lemonade. The food was good, but some of it could have used a bit more seasoning, even just salt and pepper, which we added after our first tasting. The sauce on the Lobster Thermador was very good, the seasoned potatoes were delicious, and my 6oz petite filet was cooked perfectly. Our server was very attentive, checking on us multiple times to make sure we didn't need anything, but also let us eat in peace, which can be a difficult balance. The rest of the staff was kind, too. My only complaint was there wasn't quite enough lighting, but given the "cave" atmosphere, this was kind of expected.

Storyteller’s was a very interesting experience inside the Cliff Casino. The food, service, and architectural elements inside the restaurant were all above average in quality and consistency for sure. That said, there was one thing that bothered me during my visit here with my mom. I may be vaccinated, however she’s not. It would be nice if the staff followed the basic CDC business guidelines on mask wearing, specifically. Every single employee except Aliyah (our server) and our busboy (who was apparently ‘brand new’) had their mask down with their nose sticking out. It seems to be a common theme in this area but I’d prefer it if the restaurants in the Castle Cliff Casino actually wore their masks properly, at the very least. It’s the best place in the Casino as far as I’m concerned (Johnny Rockets was good, however every employee has their masks either off or half off too). Make a reservation for sure (they’re busy and don’t allow walk ins) and reconsider going here if you haven’t been vaccinated and/or are at risk of complications from COVID because the staff (and owner) seem like don’t care about preventing the spread of it (and it’s very poorly ventilated tbh).

Summary : Food’s great (try the buttermilk cake-desert thing, it’s absolutely delicious), service is above average with the exception that they were wearing their masks on their chin with their noses out (pet peeve honestly), the location/architecture of the restaurant is visually interesting, and the relatively small amount of other guests (the place itself is small) has the effect of making it feel like more of an exclusive...

When we arrived we were greeted by the rudest host we’ve ever encountered. We had waited until the restaurant opened at 5pm so we were the first people in. She asked us how many for dinner and my husband and I said “two” She proceeded to tell us in a rude manner that she could not seat us because she only had one server and one bus person. We said that’s okay we could wait. She said NO I don’t have enough people to wait on you! ! I said Ma”am what do you mean?, why are you talking to us like this? She repeated again with her voice loud now, I don’t have enough people to serve you!!! Just then the manager walks up, very nice man, and asks what’s going on? The woman host mutters under her breath something. I told him we did not understand why she would not seat us. He quickly said we needed a reservation and they were booked up until 8pm. That’s all I needed to hear and of course understood. Unbelievable to us we had to go through all that, to be talked to like that by this host when all she needed to say was what the manager had told us. It was embarrassing and honestly we will never go back here again....
