Recently there has been a dramatic drop in quality of the food. In the last few visits, any meat in an entree has been raw or way over cooked, no middle ground whatsoever. On the night of writing this review, I call in ordered a steak and a chicken soba with a spicy Cali roll. When I arrived, I waited with about 5-6 other people, got to the counter to pay, paid, and waited a few more minutes until I’m told that they don’t have soba noodles in stock. Wouldn’t have been much of an issue, if I had been told on the phone. They offered to substitute the noodles for rice, which I accepted. However, while I was okay with having rice instead, it was in no way satisfactory. The entire meal was bland, the meat was horribly dry, and the vegetables were just mush. I thought maybe the spicy Cali would make it a little better. I thought wrong. It had absolutely no flavor or firmness to it at all. The roll was unusually soft and off putting. Would not recommend this restaurant unless...
Read moreI expected a lot because every other Yamato has been really good. We were a bit let down....Our server did not seem very well informed of the menu or our requests. She wasn't able to tell us if certain items were gluten-free. We had to reorder one of the items because of that. The sushi rice was very dry, and the pieces were much smaller than I've had in other Yamato restaurants. They did come nicely displayed. We did LOVE the sweet potato sushi. We absolutely loved the Lobster Rangoon more than anything else we ordered - served hot, delicious creamy filling, crispy on the outside. Love the yum-yum sauce, but the salads had very finely chopped lettuce that was wilted a bit. The shrimp teriyaki bento box had very generous portions of rice and veggies. Two people in our party wanted hot tea and we were told there was none. Very disappointing on a cold, rainy day. It was okay, could have been a...
Read moreThe spring rolls were very underwhelming. Kind of tasted like they were cooked in old oil. I worked at a restaurant this would happen in at times so I know you can get burnt tasting food that looks cooked properly. The sweet and sour sauce was just too much. The yum yum sauce was very pale and not at all as appetizing as the other restaurants I had been to. The ginger salad dressing was highly overpowered with ginger. Kudos to them for making it fresh though. The vegetables served frozen and the waiter wasn’t sure. They were kind of soggy so I can’t imagine they were fresh. On a brighter note, we enjoyed the sushi! It was well made. The soba noodles were also good. I enjoyed the rice. The scallops were properly good but unreasoned. Probably won’t order a bento box again but I will return for the sushi. The waitstaff was...
