Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea — Restaurant in Canton Township

LOVE Sweetwaters! This is my go to place for meeting friends over coffee/tea, studying, doing work on my laptop, or having a mommy-daughter date. My 5-year old and I love the broccoli cheddar quiche (Michigan made by Crust baking pie company). My favorite things to order are the French Vietnamese au lait, Dragoneye, or even just their house blend.

Service and Ambiance: The service is consistently friendly, fast, with no pressure. Love that they support displaying local artists and have open mic sessions from time to time. One of their baristas does amazing chalk art on a huge floor to ceiling wall at the back. They also participate in community events and have a bulletin board at the back for postings. Bathrooms always seem very clean, and there's a changing table in the women's bathroom (not sure about the men's). The WiFi is fast and reliable.

Room for Improvement: I enjoy being here a lot (usually 1-3 times a week), so I really wish they had nutritional info listed. I have e-mailed the company. Also, I wish there was a way to dispose of dishes at the front, as it can be a touch inconvenient to walk all the way to the back if you have kids/stroller/laptop. I also would expand their community bulletin board and include breakfast offerings that are more fruit/vegetable based, but I understand there's a potential to lose money there.

Sweetwaters in Canton is one of my favorite locations!

The staff is always very friendly and strives to achieve customer satisfaction but this is NOT Starbucks and I say that in a good way (and I LOVE me some Starbucks). We as consumers have to realize that each place is different and appreciate the quirks that come with it. Sweetwaters is where I go if I want a sweet drink, hence the Sweet in Sweetwaters from my understanding.

They specialize in coffee & teas but also offer sandwiches, snacks & sweet treats like cake pieces (or whole cakes!). My favorite is the OMG! Chocolate Cake and I have made many friends happy on an off day by offering to bring them a drink and a piece of cake from Sweetwaters :) The cafe will also do special orders for events like Paczki for Fat Tuesday, Pie orders for Pie Day or Frost your own Cookies for Christmas.

Pre-Covid, this cafe also had what I believe were called Open-Mic nights where community artists (whether individuals or groups) could preform. They also have artwork displayed through the restaurant available for purchase or just to view. I'll be excited when they can bring back more community events.

I am so happy that they have added the Quad size for their iced drinks! Now I can have my Imperial Milk Tea in a larger size! Though I hope that other Sweetwater cafes will also add this to their menu soon! (Ypsilanti, I'm speaking to you!)

I stopped by and tried the affogato—it was pretty good! The balance of espresso and ice cream was just right, making for a delightful treat. Beyond the drinks, the atmosphere here is truly inviting. It’s a cozy, well-designed space that feels perfect whether you’re catching up with a friend or just looking for a quiet corner to unwind.

One of the highlights is their impressive variety of coffee options. Whether you’re into classic espresso drinks or looking to try something new, there’s something for every coffee lover here.

What really sets this place apart, though, is how work-friendly it is. They offer a great environment for productivity, with reliable WiFi and even a free printer available for use—such a thoughtful touch that you don’t see often in cafes. It’s an ideal spot for remote work, studying, or just getting a few things done while enjoying a quality cup of coffee.
