Sombrero's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Canton

This is a weird danger warning for younger single women. I went in around 4:45 PM. Pretty empty and I guess they were prepping for dinner no staff were on the floor excluding one waitress who was bringing out food. There were two older women sitting at the bar drinking. I came in and realized my Uber was on the way but I was so thirsty my mouth was like cotton, so I popped in to grab some drinks to go. I ordered 2 iced teas, that had strawberry, passion fruit, and agave. I am taking it easy on sugar so I thought this would be a nice way to quench my thirst and get out of there quickly. One woman takes my order. Another makes it at the bar, that I can see in the distance. I am standing my by the stand a few feet after the front door. I can see into the kitchen because they have to door wide open. The restaurant is empty excluding the 4 other patrons present. I see a kid come out, shorter than the woman making my drinks. They apparently use a strawberry syrup, passionfruit juice, shake it up with ice then add the iced tea. While she is putting stuff into the glasses to shake up a kid comes out of the kitchen, about age 13 maybe, he tosses to me what looks like a white circular thing into one of the drinks, then goes to the kitchen. I freak. I go up to her and ask did he just toss something into my drink. She says yes and smiles. Then she pretends to not understand English when I repeat myself and state, did you just say he did toss something into my drink, then she says, yes more, as in do I want more drinks. I say no. I go get my phone and take a picture of the area, and then who comes out of the kitchen? Like his big brother or something wearing the same exact sweater, taller, older, buffer. Everyone else has retreated into the kitchen out of sight, but the door is still open so they are in a different part of the kitchen.

I think, maybe I am overreacting and it was an ingredient in the drink. Nope. I tried both drinks and one tasted normal and the other didn't. My chest feels a little tight, my throat is itching, but I haven't passed out, so what the heck was that about? Just being jerks?

They also didn't fill my drinks up all the way. Spending $8.97 to be attacked for no reason. Hard pass on this place. If you are a single woman by yourself, who is Black, and under age 40, maybe...

Upon entering the had no sanitizer machine and we are in a pandemic. The restaurant looked very outdated and not clean. The waiter upon asking him he brought over a sanitizer spray where he lightly sprayed our hands. My mother and I wanted to run out of there by waiter came and asked what we would like to order?? The menu for lunch was a poor selection. The brought out steel chips with salsa. The chips tasted old. I love tortilla chips this was not good at all. My mom ordered fish tacos which had three pieces of white fish and tons of lettuce the whole plate was lettuce and some cilantro dressing for it. My plate looked like it was a taco salad which it wasn’t. I ordered one taco with 1 tostada. I could not find the tostada because the amount of lettuce, tomatoes, and a few pieces of cheese were drizzled on top. The taco was greasy no salt shredded chicken. There was no season at all put you could see the grease falling out. This restaurant is a shame for Mexican food!! The guacamole on the side was disgust just bland. I told waiter I did not like it so he asked if I want it to go I said no. So he charged me anyways and brought out our bill. They need a lesson on cooking, business Management and hospitality. I promise you if you eat here YOU WILL REGRET IT! Just HORRIBLE FOOD!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK! I left a 5.00 tip the food cane to 35.90 just for two plates. It’s over priced lunch menu was disgusting. I wish I could give it a 0 rating. You guys gotta take pride in your business. I wanted to support a small business but which I went to a bigger franchise. By the way I left a tip because my momma taught me better than to walk away with not giving. Take that 5.00 and buy yourself a taco from taco bell....

August 2024: So I have been back here a few times since 2022. Service still very slow-food comes out at fast, but trying to get waitstaff for anything or to pay is horrible. Food still lacks flavor. Chimichanga's are fried but still somehow soft and mushy. Paid cash and it even says cash on my bill but got charged a credit card fee and the server pointed out the total bill a couple of times and I gave more than the total and was waiting for my change. I think he expected me to just say ok and leave it for him, which at this point I was suspicious, so I waited for my change. There needs to be a better Mexican restauranin the Canton/Sharon area.

2022: Mexican food is my favorite, so I could be a food snob about this. Service started real good but got real slow once our food was in front of us. Took forever to get the bill and then have the waiter come back to get it. Portions were good. Just thought my Fajita Chimichanga was lacking flavor. Chips and salsa given were good.
