THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE! My husband and I and a friend had been coming here for over a year and when we met there a few weeks ago on a very hot and humid day our friend arrived first and requested a table for 3. My husband and I were literally a few minutes away from the restaurant. Our friend was told he could not be seated until we arrived. The person overseeing seating was an older female who I later found out is an owner. She said it would be about 30-35 min wait and naturally we went back and forth as to why we couldn’t be seated. The restaurant entrance area is very small and this woman told us to go walk around Publix next door in the air conditioning because it was way too hot to stand outside in the sun. After more discussions about the fact she would not seat my friend she took his number and said she would call when a table was ready- she never called .After walking aimlessly around Publix for about 25 minutes we return and we saw a family of 4 seated at a table who arrived as we were headed to Publix. We asked why they got seated before us, her response to us was “ they called ahead” now we had been told in the past when we asked and were told absolutely no reservations. When we were finally seated our waitress, who recognized us from previous visits asked what was wrong. We told her we waited a little over 1 HOUR and asked if we could have called ahead like that family. She said “ no, we don’t do that.” This owner lied to our faces and we will never return here. I saw the family that was seated before us leaving and I proceeded to go and ask them if they had in fact called ahead. They said no, they just walked in. She should have admitted the mistake, apologized and perhaps comped some of our meal. Not good business practice to lie to a customer’s face. I find this unacceptable! We will now be looking for a new sushi restaurant. We like their food and love to support local businesses but what this woman did by lying to us was...
Read moreI can't believe this place has been here and I didn't know about it. I have frequented the most popular sushi spots both ITP and OTP, and this place rivals the best. In fact, my wife and I had given up on sushi in Canton/Woodstock as I haven't been impressed by ANY of the more popular spots in the area. When you walk in, the ambiance is what you would hope for. The servers are extremely pleasant and eager to help you select from an expansive menu. The table next to us asked "Brad" to make them a custom role based on items they liked and he whipped something up for them in a matter of minutes. He came over to them afterwards and I was impressed by his desire to get feedback. He asked them what they liked or didn't like and what he could do better. You can tell he is seeking to provide an exceptional experience and quality - he takes pride in his work.
My sushi was bright, colorful, fresh, artfully displayed, and simply amazing. I had given up on a solid sushi joint north of Marietta, but you have to make this your mainstay in the Canton/Woodstock area.
UPDATE: It's 2020 and we are now regulars and my wife has a specialty roll named after her. It's called the "Robin Roll" . She can't eat raw fish, so they designed a roll for her that includes cooked salmon, but it's not fried. This place is THE place north of the city to go to fix your...
Read moreThis sushi restaurant never ceases to amaze me. The sushi, here, is absolutely divine (as are the prices). The saying: "You get what you pay for", does not apply with this restaurant! I would, gladly, pay twice as much to be served the quality of food Yoon Sushi offers. Their menu is vast, but far from overwhelming. In all my travels (from New York to Philadelphia to Nashville to Virginia to California) I have never tasted sushi as delicious as the sushi served by Yoon! The atmosphere of this restaurant has an upscale feel, but it's okay to dress as comfortably as you'd like. Here, I've seen fellow patrons dress from casual (jeans/t-shirt) to dressy (sports jacket/dress shirt). To add to its intimate feel the restaurant has dimmed lighting, even during the day. It is also set in a cozy inside space that's not so small as to be awkward, but not so big as to feel cold or uninviting. The wait staff here is attentive, yet unobtrusive. During my most recent visit, I sat at the restaurant's open sushi bar; this allowed me to watch the sushi chefs finess their culinary artistry as I tasted their delicious creations. As well, Yoon Sushi is a great restaurant to take a first date! Again, the restaurant's prices are more than reasonable, within a classy setting....
