There was a line to order when we went in so we used the prominently displayed QR code to place our order online. It indicated we'd receive a text message when the order was ready, so we went and found a table to wait.
After 20 minutes, I went and found that the line to order had turned into a crowd of people standing around the 2 open pickup spaces (out of 6 available). The screen showed a lot of numbers that weren't ours, so I went back to our table to wait. After another 15 minutes, I checked again. There were a few more numbers on the screen, but none had been removed. I listened to numbers being called out before I spotted a pair of trays that looked like they might contain our order. I checked and they did in fact contain our food, all luke warm.
I squeezed through the crowd with our food before noticing there were no condiments on the sandwiches, as we were expected to go to the condiment bar (hidden by the crowd) at the end of the counter. We squeezed back in to fill some little cups with ketchup, mayo, etc. to put on our food, ate and got out of there. A few minutes after we ate, I finally received a text letting me know the food was ready.
The food wasn't great or terrible, on par with what you'd get at any fast food joint or a cafeteria, but the process to order and collect our food spoiled the experience.
I'm sure this is because KSC is short staffed just like everybody else, but if you're going to serve food cafeteria style, why not just sell it as a fixed price meal/drink/dessert or whatever and streamline the process? And if you're going to use an online order system, use it properly.
Every other food vender at KSC seemed much less busy and chaotic, so I'd recommend trying any of the others...
Read moreI donât know if this place has greatly improved recently, the stars aligned when I visited, or if most of the reviews on here are angry tourists on day five of their Florida vacation. Whatever the case, the food at this cafe was way better than it should be.
I had a bacon cheeseburger and added grilled onions, which were simply sublime. As someone who has had comparable burgers at Disney, Universal, Sea World, Busch Gardens, etc, the burger and fries here were a step above. Another in my party had the chicken sandwich, I had a bite, and we agreed it was better than anything Chic-fil-A or PDQ pumps out by a mile. I was going in expecting bottom of the barrel park/cafeteria food (the Houston space center is a prime example of that), but I was blown away like someone standing too close to a Saturn V during launch.
The self service counters and order pickup were quick and easy, though the touch screen could use a recalibration. Overall it was a quick experience, but I could see it slowing down if some older people are having trouble with technology. Iâm sure staff gets a âwe had the technology to go to the moon, but I canât order my cheeseburger đĄâ five times a day.
When I woke up, I didnât expect my NASA space food to be a highlight of my day, but...
Read moreDon't eat here! Their serving/ticketing system is HORRIBLE. No one to ask and no one to help. You order food on the app or a kiosk. You will then wait in loud chaos for over 30 mins and will need at least 2 people (standing on opposite ends of the long counter) to hear where your food might be coming from. In the end my partners order was wrong and my order was missing items. If you order on the "app" like all the signs say to do you will not get an e-mailed receipt (my partner didn't get it either so it's not user error) nor will you receive any instructions (and there isn't a sign or person to ask) on how to get your food. No worker checks receipts, names, or confirmation numbers for food nor do they make eye contact while calling your number or butchering your name. As soon as they call it they turn their back and continue working (I don't blame them as I'd be ashamed of that system too). After 30 mins waiting in chaos we were so stressed out it almost ruined the day. High school cafeterias are run better than this. How are we going to make it to Mars if we can't get...
