Sweet Melissa's Restaurant, while this is their new location in Fort Myers, make no mistake Chef Melissa Donahue is a seasoned pro! If the name sounds familiar, that's because fr over 15 years the restaurant was on Sanibel since the storms, they have now relocated off Summerlin Road in Fort Myers. The menu is packed with flavor and honestly, a must-try spot in Southwest Florida that you won't want to miss. But don't take my word for it, Chef Melissa was nominated for a James Beard Award in 2018 and even made appearances on The Food Network. It's a fine dining establishment with plenty of dishes to choose from, as well as a full bar for beer, wine, and cocktails. Fellow taste bud @Cora and I had the chance to sample the menu from the watermelon and tomato salad to pork belly on top of kimchee collard greens, it was all delicious. But the entrées stole the show, their braised short ribs were cooked to perfection to the point that using a knife would be a crime, they just fell apart. The Chef mentioned that they're known for the Fish Stew, and while that might sound plain, it was anything but. Packed with seafood, chorizo, in a tomato saffron broth, topped with pernod aioli, pro tip use the bread to soak up all that delicious broth. For dessert, a rich goat cheese cheesecake, topped with pistachios and local honey, that easily feeds two people. So what are you waiting for? Stumbled across this restaurant as I searched on open table for a reservation since we are visiting the area for business. Not only did the name catch my eye for obvious reasons, but it was the reviews that caught our attention. Food and service 10/10. Melissa the owner came by to greet us as we joked about our name similarities. If I lived here, I would definitely be a regular. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for a lovely date night, their happy hour and of course the amazing cuisine! Thank you Melissa! - Melissa Sweet :)

Wow, what a fine jewel. The limited menu picked our curiosity and we ended up having a wonderful dining experience. We tried and shared different excellent prepared dishes. Enjoyed them all. Each dish had a unique flavor combination, well presented and prepared. Althought we tried several dishes, we ended up with no left overs... Do I have to say more.. The service was excellent and we did not hear the noises complained in other reviews. Maybe it was because we were enjoying the experience. We will return with others.

We had a great dinner at Sweet Melissa’s last night. Our server, Stone, was exceptional - very friendly, well-informed and perfectly attentive. All 4 of us enjoyed our food immensely - very creative American fare with global influences. The cocktails were great. The restaurant’s space is casually elegant with an industrial feel with nice lighting and art. It’s nice to have Sweet Melissa’s even closer to home in Fort Myers (we have been previously when it was in Sanibel). The only recommendation I would give is to put some type of divider between the kitchen door and server prep area and the dining tables so diners facing the kitchen and serving stations feel a little more like they are having a finer dining experience. I would classify it as casual fine dining. Highly recommend...

The absolute best. We get to Sweet Melissa’s as often as possible, it seems to be about 3 times a month. From the impeccable service, to perfectly prepared drinks, to the amazing menu, you just can’t go wrong. The fish stew is famous for a reason (and delicious,) but everything else on the menu is just as good. The mussels appetizer and fettuccini and clams are better than you’d have on the coast of Maine. We have the lamb meatballs app EVERY time, they melt in your mouth and they’re spectacular. We just ordered the cornbread for the first time, and it is quite possibly the best we’ve ever had. Sweet Melissa’s - go hungry,...
