Camping in Cape May and wanted a night off of cooking. Saw this place and got excited by the story, menu and pics! Don’t be fooled. First of all, the inside is plain. Other than wicker pendant lights and 1 surfboard, there is nothing special. The counter girl is very curt and the wait is ridiculous! I called at least a dozen times over a span of 20 minutes with no answer! I saw recent reviews so I took a chance and drive there because I really wanted to try it! When I got there, there were maybe 10 people seated who already had their food. I asked the girl if she knew their phones were not being answered and there was no answering machine message. She told me her manager told them to not answer the phones when it was busy. Ok. I guess… but it wasn’t busy, and there is no message asking customers to visit in person. I started giving her my order and when I got to the 4th item she informed me that it would be at least 45 minutes and that they closed in an hour. When I told her that was ok, she was even more annoyed! I waited. There were a few pick up orders but it was not that busy! Thank God my food was good! Our order was large and included a big variety of items. Of the 8 of us eating, 2 said the food was just ok. 4 said it was good, and 2 said it pretty good. The nachos were thick, fresh and loaded. The G’s Crunches were very good. The burritos were ok. Tacos were good. We will not be ordering from here again. It wasn’t worth the wait or attitude.

I ordered an açaí bowl and it was warm and watery like a pudding consistency!! (Açaí bowls are supposed to be frozen almost like ice cream consistency) Chips were super hard burnt, and the salsa is flavorless, it tasted pretty much like mushed bland tomatoes. Spend almost $30 on both things and was super disappointed. We ended up throwing it all away and going somewhere else for lunch. I’m a local and I have gotten there açaí bowls & chips and salsa several times last summer and it is not the same this year. Maybe new staff and cooks? Idk. Prob won’t be back.

We got the rice bowl w fried cod, lettuce, tomatoes beans and rice. 3 fish tacos-cod tomatoes cheese lettuce tomato. Chicken tacos-chicken lettuce tomato cheese. I added hot sauces to my tacos. Food is fresh to order. Places is bright clean and laid back feel. Tacos served on metal tray. Bowl comes in a recyclable bowl. Tacos are served on a recyclable holder that seperates 3 tacos. A family across from us ordered the nachos. Big portions of the nachos. I'll try the nachos next time. 5 burritos out of 5 burritos. 🌮🌯🥙

After spending a wonderful evening at the Convention Center, our group of four wanted Tacos for dinner. Unfortunately, the highly rated Taco Shack was closed and Taco Caballito had a 45 minute wait so we decided to try someplace new. What a mistake. We arrived at Big Wave at 8:30 pm, 30 minutes before closing. There we no customers in the restaurant (red flag) and no one eating outside. Once we placed our order, the tall young gentleman (who was nice and friendly) asked if we wanted to eat in or take out. As soon as we said that we wanted to eat in, the two young girls standing behind him rolled their eyes and one nudged the other with her elbow. They obviously didn't want us to stay and the one young girl was bold enough to say so ... we were all so hungry at this point, so instead of leaving I asked if we could take our order outside and eat on their picnic benches. The tall young gentleman thought it was a great idea but the two young girls were still visible upset. We waited outside and the tall young gentleman delivered our food in take out containers around 8:45 pm. As we just started to eat, I noticed one of the young girls come out the front door and reach down and grab the welcome mat. We were only sitting a few feet away from her downwind. Fearing that she was going to pick up the mat and shake out the sand, I warned her not to ... but she shook the mat out anyway and sand blew onto our food. She said that she was only doing her job! Our food was ruined. She then walked in and locked the doors. This was now 10 minutes to nine and two more customers approached but could not enter because the doors were locked. What little I tried of their food was tasteless. But the attitude of the work staff was worse...

Where do you even start with this place?? I will start with the front door. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by the cashier and the chef. Smiles all around. I havent been there in almost a year so I was concerned the memory of a great meal I had then would be a different outcome today. Trust me. I was blown away. I was having dinner with my friend who has never been there. I ordered the steak fajitas and he ordered a 🌯 burrito. About 10 minutes later our food arrived. WOW! I should have taken a picture. My plate was filled with peppers, onions, cheese, salsa, lettuce and STEAK. Not just some steak a ton of steak. They didn't cheap out on the meat it was good quality steak cooked perfectly and just tender enough to bite through in my tortilla. My friends burrito was huge it had to be at least 3 in wide and filled to the brim. There are about 10 different hot 🔥 sauces to try also. From tame to OMG my face is on 🔥 fire! I had to try them all. We ate it all! It was so good even tho we were full we powered right through every morsel. In the end my fajitas and a tall can of Arizona iced tea cost about 15 bucks. Thats a slammin deal! Any time I'm down in Cape May I have to stop. Now my friend is hooked too! God bless the Big wave burrito! Special shout out to the staff. Y'all are cool AF !

Tldr; Eat there...
