The place is covered in famous painting posters, so we couldn't really see what it was or what it was about, just that it was an art museum. (i.e. Is it local art? Photography? Statues? Those famous paintings? Who knows.) So, we opened the door. Immediately, without us even stepping in, an older gentleman asked if he could help us, to which we replied that we were just curious. Instead of explaining anything or answering in any sort of helpful or polite manner, the man said, "You have to pay to see anything," and promptly shut the door in my family and I's faces. He didn't even give us a chance to pay if we wanted to experience the museum, so, needless to say, my family did not see the museum and never will if their staff is this rude to curious visitors.
Edit: It also seems that unfortunately, this place also can't take any form of criticism as they've left a comment on my post and every single negative review, essentially calling us all liars. I have explicitly stated that we did not visit BECAUSE the man slammed the door in our face before we could even think to pull out our wallets. Everything in all of my reviews is truthful and real as I want people to have plenty of opinions of a place to form their own views. Now, the man could've been having a bad or busy day, but after this comment, I'm done. The behavior of this place has truly disgusted me, and this reply essentially calling me stupid and a liar has only worsened it. An art museum should be no stranger to criticism and improvement, and what they have shown me without even having a chance to enter the establishment, is sad. (P.S. The admission by donation sign is not as clear as they say if you're simply just looking around for something fun to do. The font size is on the smaller side and is at the bottom of an entire paragraph on a door full of posters and signs. All I was asking for was a kind mention that we needed to pay instead of shutting the door in my face. Since they apparently can't read critically... we did not REFUSE to pay, we were KICKED OUT before given the chance. I'm not going to reopen a door that was closed in my face thank...
Read moreGuy who owns place comes storming up to you demanding a donation, just to see pictures of images printed off google and corny joke images. Nothing is fine arts about this place. Not to mention rude when I didn’t notice the “no pictures” sign, as it was in the corner away from where I was. It’s literally just pictures you’d find on Facebook.
Edit: it’s funny how hostile you get, I think only proving how small this guy is attempting to combat criticism by trying to bring down and insult the people leaving bad reviews. Also I looked into about 10 of the images I’d remembered, and these photos are just stock images. Some are edited with subpar editing to change a thing or two about it. Slapping google search pictures on a canvas doesn’t equal art. Also it’s not a donation if you have to force it. It’s admission at that point. But you do donations hoping kind people who believe in the arts will leave you big donations. Also yeah, we both left bad reviews because the place is just awful with no real art and an uncomfortable man that runs the place that wants to talk big online while he runs his sad forced donation “museum of fine arts and pop culture” which is just a lie. It’s just humiliating to art and I’ve seen more art culture from people’s basements. This would pass as an 8th grade art exhibit. Also some of these reviews have to be fake or something because everyone that was in there seemed uncomfortable by his presence and just confused by the “art” gallery they just walked in.
Also since you have trouble reading, I did point out that I saw the sign, after you made a scene in-front of all the patrons there. Put the signs under the pictures if it’s such a big deal. Not in the corners of the place away...
Read moreSpending the day in Cape may with my husband and the bright sign hanging in the alley "Art Gallery " caught my eye. It looked interesting with amazing prints on the window, only downside is honestly we did not see the sign on the front door posted " Admission by donation" although it is posted fairly! We entered inside and the curator Mark was with customers greeted us warmly and let us know when we get a chance because they are a non profit organization they do request a small donation to view the exhibit. I only had a card which he stated was absolutely fine and can be taken care of later and enjoy looking around. Some pieces I noticed right away were classics with a twist, when Mark was available he explained the artist like to add in one element to change the dynamic and make you think. The art was weird, wonderful, smart and quirky which makes this gallery unique! And each piece open to interpretation, there is no wrong answer! This gallery may not be for everyone but the people that run it you can tell it means everything to them so the customers that can let thier guard down for a moment and imagine your in...
