THE WORST PLACE IN CAPE MAY ...or anywhere.
My wife and I went for our anniversary. They brought out her meal and wings we didn't order.
But wait - it gets worse...
They took back the wings... but not her meal. So while her meal sat getting cold because of course my wife wanted to eat TOGETHER (duh), I guess they STARTED on cooking my meal... A cheeseburger.
But wait, it gets worse...
The burger come out after her meal was ice cold... 20 minutes later!!! 20 mintes for.... one cheeseburger. There was nothing special bout it, just a burger. How it wasn't ready with her meal (crab cakes over pasta) or how even after knowing it was wrong, they could take 20 minutes to cook a burger is all beyond me. As is why they didn't recook or at least reheat hers!!
But wait... it gets worse...
They never check on us, so I never got to even say that the cheeseburger was not cooked all the way and the cheese was cold and disgusting in solid cold chunks. I tried eating it because by this time we were frankly just hungry and wanted to try to salvage our anniversary dinner. But I could barely eat half even choking past the gag reflex. Even the fries were terrible so I ate like two and yep, they were just awful.
But wait, it gets worse...
My said her crab cakes were "okay, nothing to write home about but good enough" , mostly because she didn't want to complain or wait to see the waitress. But I could not eat the burger. I tried to make her feel better about having her meal, but it was just awful awful awful. Worst most disgusting burger of my life and again, couldn't even nibble the fries because they were so bad.
So when the waitress finally swings back I tell her how the burger was dripping with blood (I asked for well down) and grease, the fries were really overcooked and tasted awful and my wife's meal was freezing because they brought out our meals 20 minutes apart.
The best most chicken sh** part...
"The manager" took half off... of my burger. LOL I'M NOT KIDDING! He didn't comp our meals, or even one, or even just my burger... he took HALF off the burger (which are $15 btw).
Thus the title... This place is the worst! The most chicken-sh** pos restaurant ever! ChickFila or even McDonalds blows this place's service out of water. A shift runner at 7-11 or any fast food place understands customer service and actually edible cooking better than the moron...
Read moreMy hubby & I started visiting Cape May, NJ for our once a year mini getaway 3 years ago. We have walked past Fins but never went in until yesterday and what a GREAT decision that was! We were immediately seated in a very welcoming and fun environment. The whole setup is spectacular but it didnt end there. Our waitress, Anastasia, warmly welcomed us with a big, bright smile. She was very helpful and informative with any menu questions we have & truly went above & beyond to serve us well! The food could've been horrible(which is definitely wasnt) but we would still return based off her service alone! Top-teir skills, Anastasia!!! Now, onto the scrumptious food!! Some people in the reviews below mentioned "too pricey"....well.... I believe in "you get what you pay for" and the quality, quantity, and presentation of the food we has met the price points. We shared a house salad and the turkey club with old bay fries. Let's just talk about the SIZE!! HOLY MOLY!! Both dishes were HUGE!! We even had to get a to-go bin as even the both of us just couldn't finish it all! The food was SO FRESH!! It was like they just went and picked the veggies from the garden! So delicious. The turkey meat was fresh as well and so juicy!! The rye bread they used for our club was so soft and tasty. If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would double it!! The atmosphere here at Fins is super laid back and chill. It was very cool inside which helped with escaping the ungodly heat outside. It wasnt loud even though it was packed. Most places are soooo loud but I think it's just the "vibe" Fins has. All in all, if you havent caught on by now, we absolutely LOVED this place and HIGHLY recommend everyone giving it a try for themselves!! Oh, Anastasia, if you see this- keep being YOU! You are such a wonderful human. I know people have different beliefs but I could just tell God has placed such a beautiful anointing on your life to serve others. Not always in a restaurant capacity, but think bigger. You radiate joy, happiness and calmness which is so needed in this world....
Read moreA Disheartening Experience at Finn's
I had high hopes for my visit to Finn's, but unfortunately, my experience was nothing short of disappointing. As I settled in at the bar, I was surprised to find myself as the only patron. I ordered a Sprite and the Hot Roasted Beef and Cheese sandwich, eagerly anticipating a satisfying meal.
However, my anticipation quickly waned when it took the bartender a full ten minutes to bring me my drink. When I finally received my Sprite, I was greeted with an odd taste—almost as if the soda lines hadn't seen a cleaning in ages. It was an unappetizing introduction to what was supposed to be a delightful outing.
Hoping to salvage the experience, I decided to order a cup of coffee as well, which turned out to be quite good—fresh and robust. But that small win quickly faded when my sandwich arrived. Taking my first bite, I immediately recognized that the roast beef was far less than fresh. When I inspected the bun, which was indeed fresh, my heart sank as I encountered the leathery, aged roast beef within. It was a disappointing contrast to what one hopes to find in such a dish.
When I brought this to the attention of the bartender, his response was alarming. Rather than showing any concern or willingness to address my issue, he casually remarked, “Yeah, that’s why I never order it,” before handing me the check for $24.50. His dismissive attitude was frustrating, especially considering I was left with a cup of coffee and inedible sandwich and absolutely no acknowledgement of my concerns.
As a tourist town restaurant, I understand the pressures of catering to diverse visitors, but the lack of genuine hospitality was profoundly disappointing. My experience at Finn's has encouraged me to share this review in the hope that it might sway others from making the same mistake. I believe every establishment should strive for both quality food and attentive service—a lesson I hope the management...
