I am happy to state that I have been back a few times since my original review and have been pleasantly surprised. What I actually found most surprising was how good their ribeye is!
Usually at diners you don't exactly get the best when it comes to steaks, but I was really craving a steak and decided to chance it. Boy, am I glad I did! It was a thinner steak, so I fully expected it not to be medium as I requested. I'll be damned, it was medium! It also was seasoned really well and was surprisingly tender. Kudos to whoever made it!
I've had service occasionally be a little slow, but the staff have consistently been nice. This is definitely my preferred place to go now.
Original review I'm a bit torn on this place, but definitely recommend giving it a shot.
Went here for the first time for breakfast and the portions were a bit out of proportion. My father's breakfast was big enough for 3-4 meals (which I'm definitely not complaining about!), but my meal left much to be desired.
I ordered the chipped beef over home fries and asked for my potatoes well done. My potatoes came out hardly even browned (for some reason this seems to be a common theme at restaurants these days which is why I even request them to be cooked dark). And while I got maybe 3 servings of potatoes, I got about half a serving, if that even, of chipped beef! The chipped beef was tasty, but it was extremely disappointing getting so little of it after seeing the absolute mound of food my father was given.
We went a different day for lunch. The menu board at the front was completely wrong, so I couldn't get the soup I had hyped myself up for. My potato skins were yummy and my father had no complaints about his food either. I'm hoping they add fried oysters to their seafood menu in the future.
Service both times was quick and kind. Prices are very reasonable. The renovations they did are really nice and I really enjoy the look and layout of the place.
I simply ask that they start making it the norm to send out breakfast potatoes that are browned fully and that they give people a proper serving of chipped beef. Pale breakfast potatoes are beyond unacceptable and I don't understand why restaurants (not just this place) have started sending them out completely pale the last...
Read moreParking lot deserves 0 star!!! If you own a larger vehicle don't even try parking in it. Go out to the street. Oddly placed dumpster in the back parking lot. No clear entrance exit markings. My husband tried to straighten his truck. A little car decided to cut him off and park in his spot. Almost didn't even go in after trying to park! Doors are not marked entrance/exit, but after entering we discovered you can go in either front door. Specials though are only shown at one door. Once you walk in, it is bright, clean and very spacious sitting inside. But you oddly wait as waitresses just keep telling each other there is someone up front standing. Waitress who sat was not rude but surely was friendly either. No hello nothing. Never told a waitress in our seated area they had us. Waitress we ended up with was very friendly though. She got us our drinks quickly and made sure our order went right back to kitchen right away. Food came out quickly.
Food looked good, placed well on the plate. My husband had a burger said it was good and was a larger burger. Fries were slightly cold when they came out though. Our friend had a burger club. As delicious as it looked they said it was just ok. Again fries were slightly cold. I had ordered a bacon chicken ranch wrap. Fries again were slightly cold, like they were just sitting for awhile. The wrap itself was ok. The chicken in it was amazing though. I could of just ate the grilled chicken it was so good. Lettuce and cheese was lacking in the wrap. But again the chicken so good! Just wish the flavor matched the way it looked as it all looked so good.
Once you get your check you must walk through the entire sitting area up to a oddly placed cash register at the bar sitting to pay. This is where if you are handicapped it would be difficult to navigate to pay. It would hard to push a walker/wheelchair through the area. Register should be placed in the front of restaurant where it is to access for customers.
We were very excited to try Sunnyside. I really wanted to love it but it wasn't what we thought, so disappointed. We will give them another try in a few months since it is thier first week. Hoping to be able to...
Read moreDisappointed. The breakfast, french toast, eggs, hash browns etc, that was ordered appeared to be the best meal on our table. The pasta meals were fairly decent, stuffed shells and ravioli. Harvard beets were the vegetable and not that great, if you like beets go to the place that shares the name of the near by elementary school. French onion soup bowl was left full of big chucks of onions. This person didn't like that, you judge. The seafood platter was also ordered. It came out with 3-4 over cooked shrimp, 3 scallops that were shriveled up and so tough, resistant to cutting. They were as round as the size of nickels and tasted like they were formed from fish not a scallop at all. We should have taken a photo. The fish was properly prepared and not dry. The person who ordered this doesn't add salt, but used it that day for flavor. Couple people ordered soup of the day, so of course there were differing opinions. It was full of fish and a few vegetables. One person liked fish, one didn't. The pot pie was came out big chucks of dough. Very little broth so the pot pie was not slippery at all. Not only was the chicken dry but it came out in quarters. This deserved a photo too. It looked and tasted like the chicken breasts were boiled chopped in half and chopped in half again then thrown in the mix of dough and a half potato. The chicken did not taste like it spent any time cooking with the pot pit mixture. It could have been an off day, we did go in right after lunch rush. Not many people in there, 3 servers, place was clean. Dessert case full. No fresh brewed tea. Some of the diners in our party have been there previously and had good sandwiches. So maybe breakfast and sandwiches are...
