I ordered online from the website, which gave many options to modify. Possibly too many, in fact. (This seems like a nightmare for the back of the house.) My one modification was sauce on the side for a couple of salads. Seems easy, right? The order was ready fast and I went in to get it. This is where the service gets bad. First of all, the 2 young workers ignore me and other customers for about 3 minute, not even looking up from their tasks of folding a bag and taking food from the window... And then my salad came out wrong with the sauce on the ahi. When noted that, the lady says “yeah it is there.” (What kind of observation is that? WHO communicates like that to a customer?) So I told her that I can’t eat mayo and that they got the order wrong. She was very rude after that and mocked my voice (I have a vocal cord issue, so her insensitive remark was extra inappropriate. And when I told her why I couldn’t speak louder, she made a weird face at me...!) So, I walked away to remove myself from this rude encounter and go to my vehicle…5 min later I stood at the counter and she ignored me again, obviously trying to use her “power” to snub me. (She also ignored other customers but she was especially rude to me…One customer asked if he could “have a wet napkin to wipe the table…Ok, I didn’t know you have to bus your own table if you dine in.) There was another young lady working who was nicer but less experienced. She tried to help but there seemed to be a communication issue with them as well. I finally got my order 25 minutes later (so 40 min from the original order.) It it just incredible that a place with such excellent food would have such inept service. It takes so little to communicate and be kind. This one person who is front-and- center in the restaurant is allowing her ego to get in the way of doing her job, which is to communicate with guests. The food was good as always but next time, I’ll stick...
Read moreWhoa, hold your sea horses, folks! I gotta gush about a little place called Fish District, the unsung hero of under-the-sea dining!
First off, their fish and chips? Straight from Neptune's personal kitchen. I ordered a two-piece, and let me tell you, those bad boys were so perfectly crispy I could've sworn they'd done a stint at the Iron-Chef School for Fried Goodness. Zero sog. The batter was light, the fish was meaty. Pure culinary wizardry.
Then we get to the chips. Can we just have a moment of silence for the crispy majesty that these taters embody? They could put the most tenacious newspaper to shame with their crispiness.
But let's cut to the chase - the unsung hero in this seafood saga? The caper sauce. Usually, I'm a double-dipper, one foot in the malt vinegar, the other in the tartar sauce. But this caper sauce, it's got me reconsidering my life choices. No need for malt vinegar when you've got this semi-green goddess at your side.
Also, their draft selection? I mean, if the food is like an award-winning movie, the beer is the soundtrack that ties it all together. Don't skip it.
So, will I be back? Is a fish wet? Heck yeah, I will be! See you there,...

Okay, now that is said for those that don't feel like reading, let me describe this joint in a little more detail. Unlike my hubby, I am still a new fish eater. I don't crave fish all the time and when I do, it is very much in moderation. That said, I was pretty unsure of if a place with Fish in the name was really a good spot for me...
Once I got past my narrow-mindedness and actually went into Fish District, my eyes were definitely opened to new potentials. The restaurant is clean, inviting, and usually filled with people enjoying their fish and their conversations. It is a bit small inside, but you can always call ahead orders if you'd rather eat at home, in the office, or make a picnic out of it.
This fish itself is always fresh and delicious. While I have stuck pretty close to the tuna, my hubby says that the salmon is great too! The bowls have a filling mixture of rice and veges to ensure you never...
