Stater Bros. Markets — Local services in Carlsbad

I'd never been to this store and was impressed the moment i walked in the door. It was cold outside. The first thing i felt as i looked around the store was a lovely warmth surrounding me from fans up above. I'm not usually one to mention grocery store temperature, but this time it caught my attention.

The store was clean, neat, orderly, and well stocked. The produce section on the left was full of color and everything looked fresh and crisp. I tend to judge grocery stores by the condition of their produce departments and this one was top-notch. There were your usual fruits and vegetables one expects to find, and specialty items, too, plus a large organic section.

I had 15 unrelated items to find and 30 minutes to do it in. Being unfamiliar with the store's aisles, I was a bit concerned. But between the signage and intuitive layout, I managed my task with 5 minutes to spare. The only oddity I found was the location of the cookies away from and beyond the food items, past the cleaning supplies, automotive and paper goods, situated opposite the first freezer aisle.

While odd, I chose to think of it as an uncannily strategic placement that gave me time to rethink my dietary choices, before mindlessly diving into the Chips Ahoys! Especially since they weren't on my list 😆.

Before i knew it, I was finished and heading to the registers. Total price was surprisingly reasonable. I used a combo of cash and gift card to pay for my order, nevertheless, check-out was as one would expect, uneventfully fast and efficient.

All in all, it was a good looking, organized store that made my shopping experience comfortable - perhaps even enjoyable - and my task at hand convenient and easy.

Been shopping here for years.. due to bad service from Cecilia, i reduced my shopping here to only a handfull of items (shes always very rude, and her pressence is negative).. i shop for the same things everytime and am very aware with how they price things, NEVER once have I ever tried to take advantage of it. I noticed there was a sign for mix and match and 16oz rockstars, minimum 4 required, for 5 dollars.. i grabbed four and paid almost 8 dollars. Erik and Cecilia would do nothing for me except refund my money.. Both of these managers not only have the worst personality ever ( more Cecilia ) always scowling and rude..totally mono tone and un-accommodating.. not sure how they ever made it into management.. avoid this stater brothers at all costs.. Fresh Items are subpar and employee told me about a mold problem in there deli case (disgusting) to top it off u cant get basic service when they messed up.. steer clear of...

Like every grocery shoppers, I ordered cakes and everything under the sun from the bakeries of Vons, Albersons, Ralph...etc... You named it. But I am most impressed with the Bakers within Staters' Bros located in Bressi Ranch, Carlsbad. Their cakes are delicious and just about right. Their birthday cakes are perfect and exactly, if not even better than the design I gave them. They took the time to talk with me to make sure they got the details the way I wanted. My birthday guests praised the texture and the level of sweetness. I agree with their compliments, having going to many parties, and tasting countless different cakes. I ordered cakes from other "high-end" bakeries before, but none comes close to this one made by Stater Bros...Normally I refrain from making recommendation due to personal's preference, but the bakers here deserve one from me. Try them and let me know...
