We were excited to try a new spot in town and wanted to love it. We ordered the quesabirria and gobernador tacos with a side of rice and beans. Neither order of 3 tacos came with rice or beans for the $15 price tag. Both orders of tacos were literally dripping orange grease and totally saturated in oil. Each gobernador taco was maybe two or three shrimp, diced tiny, and covered in cheese. The side of rice and beans were both completely cold, not even slightly warm. Neither the rice or whole pinto beans had any seasoning or flavor whatsoever. The servers were friendly, but she didn't know if the refried beans had lard, and didn't seem to understand what I was asking about, so I went with whole beans. She didn't come back to ask if everything was okay after we got our dinner, so I couldn't even tell her about the food being cold or saturated in grease. After we were done picking at it and eating some of it and had stacked our plates, in passing she asked if everything was ok. At that point we just wanted our check. I told her when she came over to bring the check that the rice and beans were totally cold- we clearly didn't eat any of it. She apologized, took them away, told the other waitress, and came back to close us out. She said sorry again, and as my boyfriend was running his card I asked her if she took them off because we didn't even touch them, and she said yes. I thanked her. Well, she didn't take them off the bill, the full amount is pending today. So we paid $73 for 6 street sized tacos swimming in grease, a single side order of unseasoned, cold rice and beans, and two cocktails. I definitely wouldn't recommend Tequila Burrito Bar to anyone, and we won't be returning. Very...
Read moreWe have been regulars at this restaurant since it opened and have always loved the food. Unfortunately, recent changes have made our experience much less enjoyable.
What Changed The restaurant used to offer full table service, with a waitress taking your order at the table. Now, you have to order at the desk, which feels less personal and welcoming.
Chips and salsa, which were once complimentary, now come with an extra charge. This was always a highlight of our visits and made us feel valued as customers.
How We Feel We are disappointed with these changes. The new ordering format takes away from the relaxed, sit-down dining experience we enjoyed.
Charging for chips and salsa makes the experience feel less generous and more transactional.
Because of these changes, we aren’t as inclined to come back, despite having loved the food in the past.
The Good The food is still delicious and has always been the reason we kept coming back.
The Bottom Line We have supported this restaurant since it first opened, but the recent changes have made it less enjoyable for us. Unless things go back to how they were, we’re not as likely to return. We hope the restaurant reconsiders these decisions and brings back the service and touches that...
Read moreThis place just wasn’t that great sorry to say. I was working in Carlton from Salem & needed a place to eat, so I checked this out. We were going over the prices with the waitress and each one of our food was $10 a piece and then the margarita I had was eight dollars because of happy hour… We paid the tip with cash of four dollars which I’m now regretting! Because somewhere down the line she charged me $36. So she must be ringing something up for herself and charging me for it cause I should’ve been 28 bucks. I wish I didn’t tip her dammit hand about the food… The food is not that great. I got a chimichanga and now it seem to be like half of a chimichanga from what I’m used to. And the taste just wasn’t great at all. it was so so, but honest to say I will not be going back there because I don’t wanna pay for NOTHING &/or something I didn’t like. Thanks for the rip off of eight dollars plus the four dollar tip didn’t deserve whatsoever!! Also, the margarita had way too much ice with very little...
