Portofino's Pizza — Restaurant in Carnegie

After multiple negative experiences with these guys, I'm not ordering from them again. Everytime I order from them, I keep thinking their terrible service must be an isolated situation or they just had a bad day or something. But upon reading these reviews and speaking from my own personal experiences, they really are that bad folks. So heres the most recent way these guys pissed me off. Just today, my delivery driver was practically arguing with me on the phone because he couldn't find my house. When I tried to explain it to him he would very rudely interrupt me and demand I come outside (which I had already told him I was on my way). I can't explain to you where to go if you cut me off. That's no way to talk to a customer. And then when I did make it down to my door all he had to say was "Where's my tip." I explained to him that when you order through Grub Hub, there's an option to pay tip in advance, which he just kinda looked at me like I was full of it. Although if I didn't pay the tip in advance, he wouldn't have gotten one anyway for having an attitude problem. Besides that, the few times I called in with my delivery order, they were always rude. Every single time. Which is why I switched to ordering online from Grub Hub so i didnt have to talk to these guys.They got frustrated with me when I had to repeat my number to them several times and they somehow still managed to mess it up. If this among other reviews is any indicator, they really need better phones. It's not the customer's fault their phones have horrible quality, yet they get short with you when they can't hear you and often hang up. Another experience I had was that I needed them to deliver to an East Main Street address one time, and for some reason beyond me, Portofinos doesn't know that their restaurant is literally located on E.Main. So when I gave them the address, the lady asked me "Where is East Main Street?". Like I don't know lady, maybe the same street you're talking to me on right now???? Unfathomable, apparently. Spent a solid 5 minutes trying to explain to her that the address was a matter of blocks away from her on the same road. She was very rude and unprofessional about it. Honestly, I don't think I have ever had a single pleasant conversation with these guys where they weren't unreasonably rude. I have been working in customer service for ten years and pride myself on good service to my clients, so it is especially disappointing to me that they can't even maintain a five minute conversation without making it a negative experience. I have never seen a company with such consistently rude people. Besides the attitude problem, the food is hit or miss, but mostly miss. The core temp of most of my meals has been cold. Even the fries. Never had a hot meal from them, not once. They have forgotten to give me items on at least two occasions. Food never tastes fresh, which isn't surprising for a pizza shop that offers way too large of a variety of food to produce any meals of decent quality. This pizza shop sucks, the fact they're still in business amazes me in the worst way. Go to Sunset Pizza for Carnegie delivery instead and you will receive the best service from a great family and eat awesome food. And a MUCH quicker turnaround. I tried to work with the restaurant, so as a business owner, it pains me to leave this review.

We placed an order on Sunday, May 3rd through the restaurant's webpage. We were later notified that the restaurant couldn't be contacted, but yet, the charge went through. We tried calling the restaurant six times before my husband had to go to the restaurant to find out what was going on. He said their backdoor was hanging wide open, and he yelled inside from someone. A woman and her son approached from a house next to the restaurant, and he asked if they were the owners. She said "yes", and he described the problem. She explained to him that they didn't open until 3pm during the COVID-19 shutdown. He asked if they intended to make our meal, and she said they hadn't even started it, desipite it now being 3:30pm. He asked for a refund, and she said we would have to contact THEIR payment processor for a refund.

So, we called the payment processor, and they told us the refund has to come from Portofinos.

My husband told her they had until 5pm to provide the refund and that we needed a telephone call or we were reporting the charges to our bank. We waited until 5:15pm for a phone call - nothing. We've attempted to call and the restaurant simply refuses to answer our calls.

I now have to go through the process of claiming that money with my bank.

I have notified my friends and family about my experience. I hope the restaurant learns that they can't just take a customer's money and run without providing their meal, because at this point, that's...

I have ordered from here twice; once when all my bridesmaids were on my house on a Saturday during dinner then again tonight. The first time the lady who answered the phone said she couldn't understand me and hung up. When I called back she took my order and told me an hour which I anticipated due to it being a Saturday. But over two hours later I called to find out where my pizzas were cause at that point my bridesmaids were ready to go home...she told me he would be there soon. The delivery guy did arrive shortly after that phone call. The pizza was so cold. But kind of just shrugged it off to just being the drivers fault. So we decided to try this place again tonight and that was definitely not the right decision. The same lady answered the phone and couldn't understand us again but finally took our order and told us delivery would be an hour so my fiancee told her he would just pick it up to save time but she said it would still be 45 minutes. When my fiancee got the pizza home it was so greasy and not even cut and didn't appear to be cooked all the way. The whole staff was rude. Now my fiancee has been sick all night with food poisoning. I luckily didn't get sick from the gluten free pizza but never will I order...
