This experience took me and my partner completely by surprise because we did not expect to find such great and authentic Korean cuisine in Carnegie. It's not just the food that made our trip memorable but the incredibly kind service that we experienced as well.
It started after we had placed our order and the staff stopped by the table to let us know that the peppers being used in the kitchen were a bit spicer than usual and they wanted to make sure that we were still okay with the spice level that we had chosen. The restaurant worked as a team and food was served by the server and kitchen staff, alike.
When we got the Saam that we ordered, we were surprised by the portion size being so large and the taste was equally delightful - a dynamic mix of flavors and textures that lit up all of our tastebuds. My partner ordered bibimbap and the contrast of temperature, flavors, seasonings continued the party in our mouths. I ordered the Pork Belly over rice and I couldn't believe how generous they were with the protein; the flavors did not disappoint in anyway either.
Everyone we interacted with was pleasant and helpful. They helped make our dining experience memorable. When we were leaving, we thanked the chef and you could sense the tremendous amount of pride and respect she had for the food she makes.
I am no longer living in the Pittsburgh area but I know every time I come back home to the Burgh, I'll be stopping by Seoul for some incredible food and...
Read moreWell, I would like to leave an excellent review because I know this locations food is top-notch and we're very lucky to have such high quality food in Carnegie. I have ordered from here in the past and absolutely fell in love with this restaurant and the quality food they produce (their pork belly and galbi are insane). That being said, if you cannot take a to-go order 15 minutes after you open because you are "at capacity"....I don't really know what you're trying to accomplish there. I could've picked the food up in 2 hours, I would have waited. This business is missing out on making really good money, and judging from what I have seen in other reviews, it seems this is a fairly common occurrence. Extremely disappointing. I have been hesitant to order from there because the last few times I did, items were normally missing or incorrect, but my daughter really wanted to try Korean BBQ for the first time and I told her I knew the perfect place! Now, it turns out you just flat out can't get to-gos.
Create a system, be consistent, and most importantly, do not to turn away paying customers who desperately want to consume your product because of some "capacity" reason. There is not much in terms of Korean BBQ that I can find around here. I really hope they can turn this around and I can change this...

I ordered the Pork belly bulgogi and the Korean noodle soup (with beef.) Ordered them at spice level 8 and 7 respectively, and the fire icon in the name is well deserved. It's perfect.
The pork belly bulgogi is phenomenal- crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The dish is very spicy (as I requested) but also has a lot of other flavors working to keep it balanced.
Honestly, it's probably the best Bulgogi I've eaten in years.
The Korean soup was also rather delicious and spicy. I always recommend getting the traditional fried egg on top. The fried egg with runny yolk adds a robust silkiness to the soup.
I've always spoken of the magic of Spicy Asian Soups, and as I'm tying this, I find that my seasonal allergies have disappeared, even if only temporarily.
i recently moved to this area, and am quite happy to have such a great restaurant 5 minutes from my house.
As a foodie, I love that it's a family run business- 3 generations of family. Small restaurants like this are precious to me- and important to food culture as a whole. It's a refreshing change from the sea of run-of-the-mill corporate restaurant chains...
