I hadn’t been here in quite some time, and I remembered it as a solid spot for a decent hot dog at an affordable price. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. I ended up spending over $14 for two hot dogs, a large fry, and a medium drink. I originally asked for a small drink, but the gentleman at the counter suggested a large fry instead, and I didn’t realize how much the total had jumped until it rang up. The menu listed a $9 special for two hot dogs, so I guess I should have clarified more carefully.
As for the food itself, the hot dogs were standard Vienna beef, but tasted dry and had a slight freezer-burn flavor. The fries were hit-or-miss—only about half were edible, as many seemed to have been cooked in old oil.
It’s disappointing, especially with so many small, independent spots like this disappearing. I really hope they can turn things around. People still want good food and good value, and right now, this place is...
Read moreOrdered the Monday special which was two hotdogs, fries, and a drink. Also ordered a small cup of cheese sauce. Chicago style dog is decent, but doesn't have that classic snap like the Vienna beef dogs at Portillo's. Fries have a crispy exterior and fluffy interior. Fries were hot but not ripping hot like fresh from the fryer. Fries are mostly unsalted but there are salt packets at the counter.
The atmosphere is quite lacking. One tv, no ambient music, and posters of Vienna beef and sausages.
It's a small place that offers a variety of food options like tacos, gyros, burgers, and hotdogs. The price is reasonable and the food is decent, but nothing amazing stands out here.
Update: Tried the hamburger and tacos. The hamburger is decent. Tacos are very good for the price. Hot, fresh, and tasty. Hot sauce is spicy and tangy...
Read moreThis is a little blink-and-you’ll-miss-it hot dog shop, but the kind that is so good you specifically crave dogs and Polishes from them. Super friendly staff, great prices, and the food is delicious. I honestly have no idea why people around here carry on about Portillo’s when Diana’s is just down the street. There is no drive thru (super small shop) so for those unable or unwilling to go inside, that could be an issue. But I believe you can order through DoorDash or GrubHub. This place is like Downtown Dogs in the city before they had to shutter: the tiny little hole in the wall with the absolute best food and...
