Manhattan's American Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Carol Stream

Wel I will start with the negatives first. I'd would have loved to give this place a 5 star but I can't and the reason is simply the service. When we sat down we gave our drink order,asked for waters, and also put in an appetizer order in. We asked for the Philly Cheesesteak egg rolls. We asked our server Maddi if it came with mushrooms or not. We know a normal Philly does but just to make sure since my girlfriend hates mushrooms. Maddi told us she would find out but she believed it did NOT come with mushrooms. When she brought our drinks we asked if she asked the kitchen if it did and she said no but she was pretty sure there were no mushrooms in it. Well, I guess she should have actually asked instead of assuming because the very first bite my girlfriend took had a huge mushroom in it. Additionally, when she brought the appetizer she didn't bring us any plates. So we just had to eat them and get crumbs and drippings all over the table. She didn't bring us straws with our water and when she brought the check back after I gave her my credit card, she gave me no pen to sign it with. Maybe she was having a bad day which is why I didn't give a lower overall star rating. I also didn't give a lower star rating because the food was super delicious. The beef stroganoff that I got was very very good and the portion size was huge. My girlfriend got the chicken and strawberry salad which also was very good and large portioned. She also ordered the French onion soup and said that was amazing. I would go back again in hopes of better service next time and I wouldn't not recommend it since besides hee fumbles it was a good place. So for now 4...

My brother joined a group of friends for the music on Friday night 5/13. The venue is great for music the band was great and the venue was slammed so you needed to have your patience with you which we did.

The drinks were good but took some time since they were busy and our waitress was doing her best to keep up with everything. The char steak bites that were shared with the table were awesome, bread for table was warm and delicious since this was our first time we were impressed so far with appetizers.

Then we ordered dinner my brother and I ordered the prime rib dinner special with white clam Chowder side. The soup took awhile but let me tell you was worth the wait. It was delicious so we were looking forward to the prime rib which is one of our favorites.

The entree arrived and looked good on the plate and looking good was about all it had going for it. Both prime rib entrees were cold so they took them back and within a few minutes brought them back Warner. They were okay flavor and seasoning was mediocre.

Then when the bill came I noticed we didn’t get the special price. We ordered dinner past the special time yet they gave us a special list to order from..

The venue gets a 5 for atmosphere and music. The 3 is for the prime rib entree .

Granted they were busy on a Friday night will we go back yes because everyone else in the group bragged about their entrees especially the fried chicken. I will always give a restaurant...

There was a time when Manhattan's was our favorite place to eat as a family. Those days are over. After several visits with messed up orders that we ignored because they weren't THAT bad (adding/subtracting ingredients, mostly from wraps), the chicken was left off of the Southwest Chicken wrap. When we complained, they charged half price for that item, but they did not replace the wrap or offer a full refund for the (basically inedible) wrap as most other restaurants typically would. I'm disappointed because the food was good except for the fact that they could never seem to give us exactly what we ordered (and it wasn't like we were making obscure changes to the menu). I'm particularly disappointed in the customer service that didn't deal with the issues well. The two stars are because despite everything, the recipes are good. Unfortunately, the kitchen staff can get sloppy in preparing the food, and the customer service didn't make us feel well-cared for after our food...
