I was around the area and wanted to see how the new market has rebranded. The market area is now smaller and is only about 1/4, while the food court is a lot bigger now. There was only 4-5 restaurants open, and a lot of coming soon banners but no signs of them opening anytime soon.
The market does not have seafood/meat section and mostly focuses on refrigerated items. They were selling ice cream/popsicles for a $1 something, but they were clearly melted at some point and refrozen. Just throw them out or give them out? It should not be sold at all. They were all deformed and you could feel the icicles. They had multiple buy one get one free items, but it makes you think if they had a fridge problem and are trying to get rid of that stock? The one open fridge I went to was not cold at all, and the item was room temp. Iโm not sure if it needed to be in the fridge but it was not on at all.
Overall, the place still needs work. They donโt seem like theyโre completely open, but theyโve been open for a few months. Iโll come back if thereโs more restaurants in the future. I was only able to try Sulbing in the food court and it was...
ย ย ย Read moreThis market has a lot to work on and once they iron everything out, I think it would become a decent Korean market. If memory serves me correctly, theyโve redone the interior and now the actual market is smaller, and new vendors are added into the area. They have a beauty section, as well as a food court now within the same space.
Now the actual market has a very limited selection at the moment. Most notably, the meat and seafood sections of a typical market are absent, and only a small selection of frozen meat is available. They still have produce, which when I came was relatively fresh but the selection was very little.
They have a lot of Korean drinks, Korean frozen foods, and Korean snacks as well. The frozen foods remind me of Trader Joeโs prepared meals.
Once theyโre able to completely stock the shelves with more unique items I think it would be a good contender to H-mart, which isnโt too far away from...
ย ย ย Read moreCloser to a large Korean convenience store than a supermarket.
In it's current pre-Opening stage, it does not offer nearly a quarter as much produce as you would expect from a supermarket. However, this place offers a wide selection of convenient snacks, beverages, packaged meals, and frozen goods that are not found in other supermarkets. It was quite nostalgic to see certain goods (especially the ice creams) that I haven't seen in over a decade when I lived in Seoul. Most of these quick meals are made from good food brand companies, so their quality is higher than others that you would see in places like HMart.
Overall, I would come here for more niche Korean goods, but go to the nearby HMart for general goods. I look forward to the Grand Opening when the Food...
