Twisted Hickory BBQ — Restaurant in Carthage

I had the pleasure of meeting Keith, his awesome Family and staff today. Keith is a Christian Man who certainly is all about GOD Country and Family. His customers mean a lot to him as well and he demonstrated that to me today. I asked for the loose cut and he knew exactly what I was asking for; the Mother of Pearl lol. Keith took out a fresh out the pit brisket and cut it up especially for me. Now that is customer service at its finest. We then had some GODLY fellowship and discussed his future expansion. I could have stayed all day visiting with Keith and his infectious smile and awesome tasting BBQ. He said he perfected his 11 spices, never told me what they were; you have to try it. Keith’s price are reasonable for the amount of food you get, just look at my pictures, lol. There is some tables that you can sit and enjoy your food there. This is certainly a must stop to eat at. I will say that the Lord lead me here today. I am from Houston and will make a special trip to come back and enjoy the Fellowship and awesome selection of fresh food and not left overs warmed up like some other places. Please go by and patronize Keith and Family they are deserving of your business. They have all kinds of daily specials.

Our community is blessed to have a few Texas BBQ heavyweights in our community, and Twisted Hickory is one of them. The ribs are the shining star but the brisket is special, too. The food has a clean and rich depth of smoke with great penetration, the perfect amount of salt and pepper, and an elite level of attention to detail. The sides are great, the staff is friendly, and there's not much else to want other than a nap afterwards.

If you know anything about cooking Q, as well as the qualities of high caliber Q, you'll know that just by the smell alone that Mr. Keith puts his heart and soul into his food. You can tell by his consistency that he's passionate about what he puts on his customer's plates. He is never satisfied, always pushing forward as if his food was his greatest legacy. The staff makes no bones about it that the Lord is at the forefront of their lives, too, as a testament to the reputation of our God-fearing community.

Without exaggeration, this is art manifested in the form of blissful meat sweats at an affordable price and consistency you can count on. You won't spend an arm and a leg to get arguably some of the best BBQ in the state. Give it a try. You won't be...

Let me start off by saying this was by far my all around best BBQ experience to date. I stopped by about an hour from closing time, which I know is risky and you get what’s available. I got the brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, smoked Mac and cheese, the MAN beans, and a sweet tea. Spoke with the owners while my order was being prepared and let me tell you, these are GOOD people. The hospitality alone would be enough for me to keep coming back. Received my order, got back to the hotel, and it turns out I’ll be coming back for more than just great hospitality. EVERYTHING was delicious! I’ve had so many BBQ experience where either the bbq was great but the sides were mediocre or vice versa. Not at Twisted Hickory. The brisket was firm but tender and moist with great flavor. The jalapeño cheddar sausage perfect. The Mac and cheese and the Man beans were phenomenal. People of Carthage (and anybody driving through or in town for work) PLEASE come support Twisted Hickory and show this place some love. I’m not from around these parts, but I’d make the drive just to eat at Twisted...
