Golden China Restaurant — Restaurant in Cary

This Golden China place in Cary on 2432 Sw Cary Parkway was bad.. I visited Nov. 17 around 3 PM. The general tsos tasted horrible. Worst General Tsos I’ve ever had. .. The service was friendly .. at first. The person attending the counter was a younger girl. She was polite and nice until after I finished and threw the rest of the General tsos away. She said “you didn’t finish.. oh no” I said “to be honest it wasn’t very good” she looked at me and said “ that’s strange. you are the first person to ever say that” then she said “I think you must be a strange person” . I thought it was a communication issue so I asked her if she knew what she was saying and she knew exactly what she was saying... she said “it means you are not normal... you are different “ .. she knew what she was saying. Where does she get off saying I must be strange? I see their good reviews here, but they didn’t do a good job and I didn’t like being called strange because I didn’t like their General tsos... highly doubt it’s their first time hearing the food...

If you want the "classic" takeout Americanized Chinese food, you can't go wrong with this place. We've been coming here since 1994 (they been here since 1993) and we always get what we expected. Authentic? They are not, just like all the takeout (mostly) Chinese restaurants, but who ever says you must be authentic to be delicious? Sometimes, you just crave for this type of food.

The service is quick. I called ahead for the order and it was ready when I got there - 15 minutes. I got the lunch special for chicken with black bean sauce, and Szechuan Beef, plus hot and sour soup. The lunch specials are less than $6, a great deal!

The food was tasty, the meat was tender, and it was hot off the wok.

There are many restaurants of this type within 5 miles, but I think this oldie is still the best.

One more thing - due to Covid, they have this plastic sheet up at the counter, with a small window to get payment and to deliver the food. This protects the works and the customers - a good sign to see during...

0 stars!!! Very poor customer service!! Very rude, I came in and was waiting for about 10 to 12 minutes. No one said a word to me not even acknowledging my presence that they’ll be right with me nothing!! I even said hi excuse me and still nothing. Mind you I was the only customer inside at this time. Then two other customers came in and then he finally looked at me and didn’t say a word just looked up!! I told him who I was picking up for and I finally got the order. I then told the man that I didn’t appreciate the fact he just didn’t say anything to me and then ignored me even when I tried to get his attention after waiting so long. Very poor customer service wouldn’t even acknowledge my presence and then when I told him he then he got loud and obnoxious, and started talking junk instead of apologizing, and and being understanding, he was rude and started yelling.
