April 10, 2021 . . . A pleasurable experience, good food, helpful service combined for a 4.5 rating at the Tazza Kitchen in the Stone Creek Village mall in Cary, NC . . . one of six locations in this restaurant chain. I’m reluctant to recommend a chain from 1 visit at 1 restaurant location? If John & Susan Davenport, Jeff Grant, and John Haggai ( owners) set & maintain high standards at all 6 locations wins top scores & tipping my hat of APPROVAL!

Our party of six was seated quickly for lunch! All the employees at the front, behind the bar, and our server, Elise McCann were all masked up for our protection, “thank you”! Very professional, helpful, and efficient. . . Elise managed 3 separate checks and remembered my 2nd beer, which promptly arrived when my 1st beer glass was empty! As a former home beer brewer, I appreciate a plethora of craft brews & micro brews, including the craft Mango IPA !

Tazza operates a bit like European restaurants, with 3 to 4 hours for lunch, closed, then reopens for 4 or 5 dinner hours ! They offer up brick oven pizzas, which I usually order ( not this time). My wife enjoyed a veggie broccoli, onions, and cheese quiche ! My daughter liked her healthy spinach salad. Several of us ordered Baja Bowls with black beans, kale, pickled red onions, tomatillo sauce over green rice . . . Choice of pulled pork, or chicken, or beef brisket, or shrimp! ( I paid extra for all of them) My only suggestion to improve was the pork, a bit over cooked, otherwise good combination of flavors.

Good to see gluten free choices, and healthy menu alternatives ( e.g. flourless cake, and roasted spaghetti squash) !

Wish I had room for dessert . . . I noticed Chocolate Bodino which is an Italian version of chocolate pudding, I bet that’s velvety smooth?

Notes:

Curbside service is available!

Catering services are available!

Our family of four went to dinner here to celebrate my wife's birthday and had a very poor experience. My wife ordered the salmon which was $18 and it came as a tiny piece of salmon, about 1/2 of what you would normally get at a restaurant, sitting on top maybe a 1/4 cup of vegetables. I'm seriously talking like 1 piece of carrot, 1 piece of potato, 1 piece of some other vegetable, and that's it. All of this smothered with a cup of some creamy sauce. We all looked at it in disbelief wondering if they forgot to bring something to go with it, because looking around it looked like other people in the restaurant got decent portions. My 14 year old and I both ordered the cheeseburger. It was actually pretty good but extremely salty if that's a concern of yours. My 10 year old ordered the quesadilla off the kids menu. I should have taken a picture of it as nobody would believe it but it came as 3 little pieces like the size of a credit card, each flatter than a pancake. It was no joke like a snack, or half an appetizer. It was event served on a little bread plate because it would look ridiculous on a regular plate, even a kids size one. Nothing else came with it. Fortunately there were a lot of fries with the cheeseburgers that we could share but I can't imagine how they served those 3 little pieces with a straight face. All in all the bill was $55 including a soft drink and 1 beer. My wife desperately wanted to complain to the mgr but we all begged her to let us just leave and I told her she should have complained before eating the little food we had so they could see how ridiculous it was. When we got home my skinny little 10 year old had dinner and it's all we could talk about was how bad the...

Used to be regulars, but...... some places you know you are paying a premium for a reason and when it doesn't deliver a handful of times, there is a problem(s) that aren't being addressed. We have noticed a decline in service, but considering our regularness, we wanted to give them more chances than we normally would. With that being said, we dined tonight and it was the worst experience yet. Previously, the bartender, same blonde bartender, was slow, very slow and lackluster at best. Requesting plates and condiments prior to ordering we thought would prevent the negative experiences we had with our last few outings. We received our meal, but not the things we needed to be able to indulge. Um, hello, we need plates, and the condiments we requested, after waiting over 10 minutes we realized it was a fail. Once we were able to pull her away from her bar conversation, she mentioned they were out of ketchup, for our fries, and that someone was running to Walgreens to pick some up. After about 15 minutes and soggy fries, we realized this maybe wasn't going to happen. We were never offered fresh fries or any other replacement as we held on hope for ketchup. Same sort of issue for our pizza, received it, but not the parmesan, pepper flakes or even plates as it sat there for over 15 minutes getting cold and soggy. Very disappointing! We used to eat here at least twice a week and now after 3 bad experiences within 3 months, we don't feel the need to give them our hard...

I asked the waiter what dishes they were known for and she shared that it were the tacos and pizza. We ordered the Margarita pizza (this is our second visit) however it seemed a bit driers so I asked a side of pizza sauce- they charged for a side of pizza sauce. The margarita was strawberry flavored, I would say I love my margaritas and have had my fair share- felt like this was overwatered with the amount of ice in the cut and didn’t come with a stare- upon asking it was a paper straw. We ordered the tacos, three different kinds, they were good but arrived not hot or warm- seemed like they were sitting out so it cooled down the meat completely. We ordered the almond orange cake and the chocolates cake that were today’s special desserts. The orange- almond cake didn’t have either flavors, one of my guest is a pastry chef and I work in the bakery business, and it didn’t taste fresh & it tasted like banana bread with walnuts but the manager stated it was the promised flavored. We had the chorizo nachos as an appetizer and those were delicious. I may give this place another try some other time , but at this moment, it’s a no. My server was good but checked on us 13 times during our 100 minute dinner visit. The host was great.

This is a hidden gem. The atmosphere is fun and the food is fantastic. Katherine is a great server. The menu is unique, farm to table and well seasoned. We had the oven melted goat cheese and roasted cauliflower for appetizers. The seasoning on the cauliflower made me want to have another plate! For dinner, tacos! Chili shrimp, braised short ribs and braised pork. I enjoyed the ability to order 2-3 and pick different meats. I also had the honey beets side dish. These were perfectly made and I wanted another serving! I tried the flatiron steak, it was cooked nicely and seasoned well. For dessert, we had the key lime pie. The homemade whip cream and freshly grated lime made this one of my favorite key lime pies of all time. Drinks were on point: Flora with mezcal, reposado, passion fruit and firewater bitters, Private Cabana with spiced rum, almond, horchata, coconut milk, lime and bitters and Sangria with white wine, peach Brandy, orange, lemon and honey. Thank you for supporting local farmers and bee keepers! We'll be back!
