Today I had a terrible experience at India Masala restaurant, where I brought my three small children to have a nice lunch. As we entered the restaurant, I saw a sign that said Please wait to be seated, someone will greet you. But no one came to greet us. So we sat down at the only available table in the restaurant. It was dirty and had crumbs of food and soiled napkins strewn about. But we sat there hoping someone would come clean it. Eventually an older Indian gentleman came up to our table and gruffly asked me "How many?" I pointed to my three children and myself and said four. He angrily replied "How many adults!" I told him just myself. My twin babies were sitting in high chairs pushed up against the table and he began abruptly spraying the table with Windex. He practically sprayed one of my twins right in the face with the Windex. He took no care to ask me to move the babies away from the table as he sprayed. And he took no care to avoid spraying the Windex near the babies. He then quickly wiped the table, mumbled something about coming back with water, and scurried off. But he never came back with any water and no one came to our table to ask if we wanted anything to eat. I then saw him walk up to another table with water, a table seated after we had already been there waiting. I then got up and started putting the babies in the stroller and told my five-year-old that we were leaving. The older Indian man who had earlier promised water came up to our table and finally gave us some glasses of water, but I told him we were leaving, that we felt very unwelcome in his restaurant. As I was trying to push my cumbersome twin stroller around the corner and out the door of the tiny restaurant, not one single staff person from the restaurant apologized or even opened the door for my children or myself. I asked my five-year-old if she could get the door, knowing no one else would. A customer eating his lunch then got up and got the door for us. Other than that kind customer, being in that restaurant was an awful experience that I hope to...
Read moreMy parents got me take out from this place as I am, at the time of writing this review, currently quarantined in my house due to Covid. Although I usually base my restaurant opinions on how the food is on location (since it’s usually more fresh and plated how it’s supposed to be), the very spicy chicken tikka masala knocked my socks off with how delicious it was. It had a great balance between unique, savory flavor and challenging spice level. The meat was plentiful and tasted fresh and tender, while the rice I poured the curry over was light, soft and delicious. I also got the tandoori roti for some side bread, which I thought complemented the meal very well. It looked and tasted just like fresh, whole wheat bread that I would have baked at home! Overall this was an extremely satiating and satisfying meal that left me with a smile on my face and a happy tummy. I would definitely recommend Indian masala to anyone who eats food and I intend to eat from here again, hopefully in person...
Read moreUPDATE: Since the team appears to care, here’s some feedback! I don’t know that there’s much you can do about the outdoor area (unless you own the plaza), but any decor/signage would make things more inviting as it currently feels half-abandoned. There are too many unnecessary signs on your windows, making the restaurant look/feel more like a convenience store than a dining venue. Once inside, your lighting, general tidiness, and clutter needs to be improved. If it’s not explicitly meant for guests to see (cleaning supplies, boxes, etc.), things should be back of house. Bathrooms need attention. Service was friendly and quick, but lacked forethought. So I give you credit for being responsive, but it needs more anticipation. Server was an “order taker” and did little to nothing to engage, make suggestions, etc. I really think a couple of days of cleanup and attention to detail and a little effort with service would take this place to the next level. OLD: Good food, decent service,...
