I am updating my review because, well, I really don’t know anymore with this salon. I keep going back, and I don’t know why. I just went in for a pedi & mani a day before a wedding, and before the day even came (so, FIVE HOURS after the service), the polish just completely peeled off my nails. Not chipped, but peeled off, in one full sheet. I ended up having to scramble and do my own mani/pedi the night before the wedding. I hadn’t even showered yet or done anything to compromise the service. It was simply a job not done well. ——— I have had a variety of services here; waxing, haircuts, hair coloring, eyelash extensions, microblading, massage, and hair extensions. And it’s really hit or miss with this salon. Only about 50% of the services were ever satisfactory. One common issue I’ve encountered across all service providers here, is that they don’t listen to their customers’ wants and needs. If it’s a simple service like waxing or massage (which you can really only do one way), then the service is more or less fine (although even the massage was a joke - my 12 year old niece did it with more strength and depth than the massage therapist I’ve had here, despite requesting a DEEP TISSUE massage). But if you require a more complex service - such as a haircut, hair color, or brow blading, then you’re really at the mercy of the technician, because they don’t care what YOU want. They do what THEY think looks good. They tell you to bring in pictures, and ask you questions about what you like. But then they completely disregard it. When you raise questions/concerns/doubts, they tell you matter-of-factly that “trust me, this will look better”, or “oh it won’t be that thick” or “it just looks dark now”. I recently had my hair and brows done (color and microblading) and they messed both up. I had pictures for both, and reiterated that I did not want my brows too thick, too dark, wanted a specific, simple shape, and that I wanted my hair a more copper than red color. And she fought me at every request, saying “this will look better”, “it won’t be that thick in the end”, and I ended up with purple-red hair (when what I wanted was a copper-brown), and ended up with hideous eyebrows that are too thick and completely backwards. Why she would go so far off script and off picture is beyond me. Thankfully, I can at least dye my hair black to fix the mistake. But if you’re paying an already high price for a service, you should walk out with what YOU asked for, not what the stylist FEELS like doing. And from what I’ve read in previous reviews, this seems to be a common problem at this salon. So my word of advice is: LISTEN to what your clients want and don’t fight them on their requests. The $10 or $15 discount or credit you give me after a botched service really makes no difference to me, because the damage you’ve done far exceeds that. I’d gladly pay $10 or $15 more just to get your stylists to do what I ask for instead of whatever they feel like doing. Or if you don’t know how to do it as requested, then just say so, but don’t bully me into a look or style that I clearly said I don’t...
Read moreMy daughter and I were scheduled for a pedicure and haircut at the cascade location. We have never been there before as we usually get pedicures done in Kalamazoo. Upon arrival we were not greeted by any of the front desk staff (4 girls standing at the desk just stared at us when we walked in) sooooo akward and honestly intimidating when you have never been to an establishment. That was our first impression which I would have been able to overlook. But our pedicures were not great. They sit you in a big massage chair and have you soak your feet for 15 minutes in the tub and leave the room. The. The pedicure technician comes back and Works on your feet-rub them for 30 seconds each then wrap them in hot towels and leave you again for another 15 minutes come back and rush your toe nail polish- tried drying it by waving flip flops over my toes and literally smeared my bottom coat because she was too impatient to wait for it to dry. She noticed the nail polish on the clear brush and just painted it onto her arm to get the bottom coat color off the brush. Then continued to put too coat on the rest of my not dry nails. And you’re done with 10 minutes to spare. And you leave asking yourself “Did I Seriously pay 65$ for this not including tip? “Yes I did. Off to my haircut which was another awful experience with a hairstylist who was very condescending and also rushed on my hair. I will say Madeline (who did my daughters nails and hair)is so sweet and did an amazing job with my daughters hair and her pedicure. She was very pleasant to be around, which honestly is half the experience. My seven year old daughter actually said to me as we left “I’m so glad I’d didn’t get the girls you had”. Pedicures not worth it but would go back just to have Madeline cut my...
Read moreI understand that not all prices can be posted on their website because some prices vary. That being said, THIS is WHY they SHOULD post their prices online: Anyone can tell you anything they want (or anything they “think”) a service is going to cost. You schedule a consult (which is what they recommend to do in order to get pricing). The stylist/technician tells you she “thinks” it’s going to cost this much, and you schedule the appointment. Then you come in, and it turns out she was wrong, and it costs something else. Isn’t this person supposed to know exactly how much it costs, since she is the one providing the service? And if you haven’t changed anything, and are doing the very same service discussed during the consult, with nothing else added or changed, why are you being charged a different price than quoted during the consult? Or you get told you’ll get a discount if you book now, so you do (and you mention the discount while you’re booking, and the receptionist doesn’t say anything about the promotion being over), but then you get no discount and are told AFTER THE APPOINTMENT that the promotion is no longer active. So why not mention this to someone while they’re booking the appointment? If you ask me, this a very shady way to do business. I don’t want to go to someone who’d do anything just to lure you in the door and then tell you all the fine print after the fact. I don’t appreciate that, at all. Be honest and upfront about your prices and promotions. Don’t “think” a service is going to cost so-and-so, give me a PRINTED list of prices, or put it on your website so there can’t be...
