Middle Sound Grille — Restaurant in Castle Hayne

Wait staff extremely kind and friendly. Burger was ok. Kids chicken quesadilla was actually pretty good, but the kids pizza was terribly lacking. Too much sauce. Wayyyyy too little cheese (a bit of cheese in the middle of the pizzas, then a thick ring of just sauce and then then the crust) 2 kids in our group got it (unfortunately) & the adults sacrificed our meals so the kids wouldn't be hungry. Had we not had a few toddlers and been eating in the wooded area, I might have gone back in and asked for a switch out. Not sure if they would have done that, but they do seem like the kind of place that might have. Again.. awesome staff. Mediocre food. We will likely eat on the way there next time and just let the kids run free while we enjoy some adult beverages from the other...

I ate here tonight and enjoyed the food. I then go to pay and The lady working there said she had accidentally had me pay for another order and said she would go refund my payment so that i could pay for my Order. I then am waiting for an extra hour for my refund i supposedly got and never got it. I then walk up to her and ask if the refund had went through and she said she didn’t refund my food and that i only owed $3. If i would have known she wasn’t going to refund my money then i would have paid $3 and left right then. besides that Food was good, and...

Bring a snack for the wait Came here hoping to enjoy a nice meal… instead I enjoyed a long, intimate relationship with my water glass while waiting what felt like an entire fiscal quarter for my food. I swear the chicken had to be born, raised, and educated before it made it to my plate.

That said, the server was great—friendly, attentive, and clearly just as frustrated as we were. Honestly, I felt bad for them. They deserved a better kitchen.

Would I come back? Only if I’m not hungry...
